HUTB Holds Exchange Symposium with Frostburg State University

On the morning of June 20, an exchange symposium between the university and Frostburg State University in the United States was held in Conference Room 1210 of the Economic Management Complex. The theme of the meeting was "The Sustainable Development of Collaborative Education between the Two Universities." The event was attended by Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician; Ronald Henry Nowaczyk, President of Frostburg State University in the United States; Xiao Xiaoqin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee; and Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB. Leaders from relevant departments of Frostburg State University and the university were also present.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong introduced the university's history and development, talent cultivation, disciplinary construction, scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship, enrollment and employment, and campus construction. She emphasized the presence of national and provincial-level teaching and research platforms, including a National Center for Basic Science and State Key Laboratory (under preparation) led by academicians, as well as the high-level scientific and technological innovation platform, Xiangjiang Laboratory. The university adheres to the educational philosophy of integrating "New engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses” with science and seeks to create excellence in five areas while focusing on the development of seven major schools in engineering and business. She stated that the two universities have had a history of cooperation for more than 8 years and expressed her hope that both sides would engage in extensive and practical cooperation in talent development, academic exchanges, and cultural heritage. She wished both parties to jointly create a benchmark and demonstration of Sino-foreign cooperative education.
President Ronald Henry Nowaczyk expressed heartfelt thanks for the warm reception from HUTB on behalf of Frostburg State University. He introduced Frostburg State University's 125-year history of education, which has earned it a reputable status in the United States. The two universities have been cooperating in education since 2016 and have already graduated four classes of students. Through the joint efforts of both universities, the cooperation in education between the two institutions has a promising future. He hopes that both sides can expand their cooperation in various fields, cultivate more international talents, and jointly develop this landmark international cooperative education program.
The participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on various aspects, including scientific research, cultural exchange, academic conferences, discipline construction, curriculum systems, student exchange programs, and faculty exchanges. They reached a consensus on cooperation.
Finally, on behalf of both sides, Secretary Chen Xiaohong and President Ronald Henry Nowaczyk exchanged commemorative gifts that represent the distinctive characteristics of their respective universities.
