HUTB Holds "Marching on a New Journey, Blossoming in Spring and Harvesting in Autumn" Symphony Concert

On the evening of September 23, the university held the 2023 (Autumn-Winter) Campus Music Season - "Marching on a New Journey, Blossoming in Spring and Harvesting in Autumn" symphony concert at the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall in Xiangjiang Building. The event was attended by Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wang Minggao, the Director of the Academic Committee of HUTB; Liu Guoquan and Yi Mianyang, members of CPC HUTB Committee, and Vice Presidents of HUTB. In addition, experts and scholars attending the First Session of the 4th Council Meeting of the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China were also present, along with students and faculty from the university.

The symphony concert was conducted and directed by Professor Xiao Ming, a national first-level conductor and Dean of the School of Music. It featured performances by the university's Xiangjiang Symphony Orchestra, faculty from the School of Music, and the Changfeng Chorus.






As the enthusiastic applause filled the air, the concert began with an orchestral performance along with the soprano solo "Frühlingsstimmen Walzer Op. 410." The lively rhythm and vivid melody vividly recreated the scene of the earth rejuvenating and snow melting. The orchestral suite "Red Detachment of Women" featured a rhythmic and grand melody with alternating tempos, vividly portraying the brave and fearless spirit of the women warriors in the Red Detachment. The "Dance of the Yao Tribe" showcased the beauty of its music, with the pipa and vocal interaction, capturing the essence of the Yao ethnic culture and a joyous atmosphere. The saxophone and violin duet "Czardas" had a captivating tune with a lively and free-flowing rhythm, bursting with a unique sense of beauty within its smooth and elegant melodies. The male solo "My Father's Prairie, My Mother's River" was accompanied by graceful dance movements, passionately expressing a longing for the vast grasslands. The French horn and the orchestra played "A Lifelong Journey," portraying the vicissitudes of life and the enduring passage of time, inspiring every ordinary person to bravely pursue their dreams.




The female solo "Why Are the Flowers So Red" had a melodious and charming tune with a strong ethnic flavor, conveying a steadfast commitment to keeping youth alive. The female solo "Pamirs, How Beautiful My Hometown Is" featured a melodious and uplifting melody, immersing the listener in the magnificent and grand Pamirs plateau. The pipa concerto "Clouds and Flowers Fantasia" had a beautiful melody, with variations in intensity that showcased the harmonious blend of Eastern and Western instruments, embodying the musical concept of "harmony in diversity." The piano solo "Ode to the Yellow River" delivered a powerful and passionate rendition of the grandeur of the Yellow River, celebrating the unwavering spirit of the Chinese nation. The baritone aria "Di provenza il mar" was emotionally rich and moving, with spontaneous performances by teachers and students, vividly narrating a romantic and endless love story. The female duet "Time to Say Goodbye" featured a melodious tune, expressing the sadness and reluctance of parting, as well as the anticipation and dreams of the future. The symphonic sonata "Symphony No.9 in E minor, Op.95" was energetically played by the trumpet and French horn, portraying a life attitude that is free-spirited and proactive.
Finally, the choral pieces "Leading" and "Under the Radiant Sun" elevated the atmosphere to a climax. Secretary Chen Xiaohong was invited to join the faculty and students in singing "The Motherland Will Not Forget" and "We Walk on the Great Road." Their resounding voices ignited the entire audience, inspiring the faculty and students to overcome challenges and forge ahead, using their hard work to create a bright new chapter for HUTB.
