Youthful Passion Ignites Ambitions as Freshmen of Class of 2023 Undergo Military Training Review

Dressed in military uniforms, HUTB class of 2023 showcase their military bearing with youthful enthusiasm. On the morning of October 20, HUTB held the 2023 freshman military training report, summary, and commendation conference at the Feiyue Athletics Field. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Huang Xin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, as well as chief leaders Liu Guoquan, Zhang Ling, Gan Dejian, and Yi Mianyang, attended the event. The conference was presided over by Vice President Gan Dejian.
Leaders from the People's Armed Forces Department of Yuelu District, heads of relevant functional departments of HUTB, deputy secretaries of CPC committees of secondary schools, freshman military training coordinators, assistant instructors, military training officers, and all freshmen of the Class of 2023 participated in the event.
The conference officially began at 9 o'clock in the morning, starting with the flag-raising ceremony. All the teachers and students stood solemnly and sang the national anthem together, paying tribute to the rising five-starred red flag.
Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech titled "Setting Sail for Dreams from Military Training". She expressed that during this military training, the participating students showed high enthusiasm and full spirit as they actively engaged in rigorous and intense military training activities. They not only acquired military knowledge and skills, but also strengthened their patriotic beliefs. At the same time, they cultivated the soldierly style of hard work and endurance, showcasing the outstanding qualities of students from HUTB.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed her hope that the students will always remember General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest instructions and set sail for their dreams from the starting point of military training. With a sense of dedication to the greater good and love for the country, they should unleash their life ideals in the fiery passion of youth and achieve great accomplishments in the struggle of their youth. Secretary Chen Xiaohong announced the official commencement of the report meeting on the achievements of the military training for the freshmen from Class of 2023.
The presentation of the military training achievements has officially begun. Led by the 08 type wheeled infantry fighting vehicle, a total of 20 military training squads, with the instructor team at the forefront, marched in a majestic manner. Each squad's flag flew high, their steps were synchronized, and their slogans were loud and vigorous. They marched past the podium in an orderly manner, accepting inspection, showcasing strict discipline and unity spirit. This display demonstrated the uplifting spirit and demeanor of the students from HUTB.
During the skills demonstration, the flag-bearing squads, set to the stirring music, waved their bright red flags in unison, creating a surging wave of red at the scene, with majestic momentum and thunderous shouts. The boxing display was vigorous and powerful, with each move exuding a heroic and imposing air, much like an eagle soaring in the sky or a sharp blade being unsheathed. In the face of adversity, the students' agility and dominance were vividly displayed in the assassination technique. Their dagger drills were vibrant and heroic, showcasing the martial spirit of soldiers. The emergency baton techniques flowed effortlessly, seamlessly combining offense and defense in a fluid and natural manner. Each movement was both independent and integrated with others.
During the tactical demonstration, the soldiers showcased various subjects such as individual combat actions, squad formations, sign language, medical aid, nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) protection, and tactical coordination. Amidst the billowing smoke of the battlefield, with continuous fire support from infantry fighting vehicles, mortars, and rocket launchers, our combat squads launched a powerful attack with their light and heavy weapons. The soldiers demonstrated excellent coordination and launched a swift assault, successfully seizing the position, earning thunderous applause from the audience.
The campus culture parade brought the atmosphere to a climax. Red-colored blocks spelled out phrases such as "Follow the Party's lead", "Have ideals, be brave, endure hardships, and work hard", "Seven Major Technology and Business", "Chasing the light, chasing dreams, chasing the wind", and "I Love HUTB". The displays showcased the profound patriotism and lofty spirit of struggle of HUTB students.
After the military training achievements report, Vice President Zhang Ling announced the Commendation Notice for the Outstanding Collectives and Advanced Individuals of the 2023 Freshman Military Training. Seven formations, including Xiangjiang Academy, were recognized as "Excellent Formation Squads", while 46 instructors were honored as "Outstanding Instructors", and 636 freshmen were awarded the title of "Advanced Individuals" in military training. The ceremony also acknowledged the award-winning collective in the Red Song and University Song Chorus Competition.
Finally, all the teachers and students sang together the "Battle Hymn of the Strong Army" and the "Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business", with their resounding and passionate melodies echoing in the venue for a long time.
