Good News | HUTB Students Achieve Excellent Results in "Challenge Cup" National Competition Again

On October 30, the list of winners for the 18th "Challenge Cup" National College Student Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition was announced, which was jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, All-China Students' Federation, and the People's Government of Guizhou Province. HUTB has won one first prize, one second prize, and four third prizes in the main competition of the national "Challenge Cup". Among them, the second prize-winning work "Do not forget the green mountains, do not forget the people - Research on collaborative ecological risk prevention and ecological resilience construction in China's provincial regions in the new era" also won the "Progressive Innovation Special Award". HUTB is the only university in Hunan Province to receive this honor.


After the preliminary provincial competition, national preliminary and final rounds, as well as public displays and on-site questioning and debating during the final review, HUTB's entries achieved outstanding results. The work "Investigation Report and Countermeasures for the Smart Energy Resilience Optimization of Urban Agglomerations under the Dual Carbon Goals—Based on Empirical Research of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration", guided by teachers Xu Xuesong, Yang Jia, and Liu Renchun, and participated in by students such as Shi Tao, Yang Yi, Guo Meiyao, Liu Yifeng, Huang Zhixuan, Zhong Yuxuan, Tian Yongjing, and Wang Tiecheng, won the first prize in the main competition of the national "Challenge Cup". Another work "Do not forget the green mountains, do not forget the people - Research on collaborative ecological risk prevention and ecological resilience construction in China's provincial regions in the new era", guided by teachers Deng Lianrong, Li Dongqi, and Li Zhuoqi, and participated in by students including Wang Qicheng, Sun Ziyuan, Chen Hu, Luo Fangling, Liu Xinxuan, Sun Xu, and Li Fangxinmin, won the second prize. In addition,HUTB's entries "Research on the Path of Promoting the Legalization of Business Environment in Hunan Province", "Resilience Assessment and Integrated Management of Urban Heavy Rainfall and Waterlogging Disasters - Taking Changsha City, a Key City in the National Drainage and Flood Control Short Board Project, as an Example", "Research on the Current Situation and Path of Digital Transformation of Local Traditional Industries - Based on the Investigation of the Porcelain Industry in Liling, Hunan", and "Value Co-creation: How can the New Rural Collective Economy Promote Common Prosperity? - Taking Ping’an Oil Tea Town and Other Typical Wealthy Villages as Examples" won the third prize in the main competition of the national "Challenge Cup". In this competition, HUTB's six entries all won awards in the main track, placing us at the forefront among universities in the province.

In the "Red Themed" special activity, HUTB's entries "Leixiaozhi-Exploration of Integrating the Spirit of Lei Feng into the Construction of Resilient System of Moral Governance, Rule of Law, and Autonomy" and "Investigation and Research on the Protection and Inheritance of Hunan's Red Gene - The Most Red of Hunan People" won the third prize nationwide. Furthermore, HUTB's entry "Intelligent Touch Arm - Prosthetics, Also Known as 'Meaningful Limbs'" was rated as a "Planet-level" work in the "Cool Tech" exhibition activity.

The chief leaders attached great importance to this competition and considered it as an important platform for cultivating top-notch innovative talents. Relying on the student scientific and technological innovation work system, HUTB organized and guided teachers, experts, scholars, and student elites to actively prepare for the competition, providing comprehensive guidance and support throughout the process for the participating teams. Professor Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, has shown great care and provided guidance, giving tremendous encouragement to the participating teams. The HUTB Youth League Committee organized the "Challenge Cup" competition at various stages, inviting experts from both inside and outside HUTB to evaluate and refine the works of each team. At the same time, multiple training sessions were organized for the participating teams, significantly enhancing the competitiveness of their projects. All schools actively responded, enthusiastically participated, cooperated closely, and wholeheartedly devoted themselves, laying a solid foundation for achieving good results. At the competition venue, the participating members passionately shared vivid stories about their experiences in the practical process, showcasing the youthful charm of HUTB students' engagement in scientific and technological innovation.
