HUTB Ranks First in the 8th Integrity Education Series Activities in terms of the Number of Selections

According to the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Publication of the Results of the 8th Integrity Education Series Activities (J.S.Z.T.H [2023] No. 15), through university recommendations, provincial/regional/municipal recommendations, expert selections, and submissions from HUTB, two works were selected for the campus essay selection list, two were selected for the creative collection selection list, and one was selected for the integrity case selection list. Additionally, two individuals were awarded the title of Outstanding Student in Knowledge Q&A. The number of selections ranked first among all universities nationwide.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized in his important speech at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection that leading cadres, especially senior cadres, should take the lead in implementing the opinions on strengthening the construction of a clean and honest culture in the new era. This includes strengthening their ideological foundations, enhancing their awareness of Party spirit, and improving their ability to resist corruption and prevent degeneration. To deeply study and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and implement the CPC Central Committee's Opinions on Strengthening the Construction of a Clean and Honest Culture in the New Era, the Ministry of Education officially launched the 8th Integrity Education Series Activities at the end of 2022, with the theme of "Upholding Integrity to Nourish the Original Aspiration and Fulfill the Mission". The activities are designed to promote comprehensive and strict governance over universities, focusing on the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing talents. They are tailored to the actual situation of universities and divided into three units: works collection, knowledge Q&A, and case exhibition, with the aim of promoting integrity in political engagement for Party members and leading cadres, integrity in educating students for teachers, and fostering integrity in students' behavior.

The CPC HUTB Committee attaches great importance to this activity and has specially established the Organizing Committee for the University Integrity Education Series Activities at HUTB, with Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and consultant of the Hunan Huaxia Integrity Culture Research Association, as the director. The committee is composed of various departments including the CPC Committee Office and Principal Office, the CPC Committee Publicity Department, the Discipline Inspection Commission, the Office of Hunan Provincial Supervisory Committee Ombudsmen stationed in HUTB, the Academic Affairs Division, the Graduate School, the Student Affairs Division, the Youth League Committee, and the School of Art & Design. These secondary units have responded promptly, coordinated effectively, and collaborated closely. In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and the Education Work Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Clean Government Construction actively organizes and implements various aspects of the competition. Teachers, students, and staff of HUTB enthusiastically signed up, creating a strong atmosphere of participation and collective action.

In the provincial selection event, HUTB won a total of 7 first prizes, 11 second prizes, and 15 third prizes, ranking first among all universities in the province in terms of the number of awards received. After evaluation by the Department of Education of Hunan Province, multiple works created by our teachers and students have been approved for submission to the Ministry of Education for further evaluation. The award-winning works closely adhere to the theme of integrity, following a creative direction and innovative approach that emphasizes small details, broad sentiments, and positive energy. They inherit the fine traditions of the Party, promote a culture of honesty and integrity, and fully demonstrate the role of integrity-oriented cultural works in guiding, inspiring, and shaping individuals. These works showcase the fruitful achievements of HUTB in strengthening the construction of a clean and honest culture in the new era.

In recent years, HUTB has conscientiously implemented the Opinions on Strengthening the Construction of a Clean and Honest Culture in the New Era issued by the CPC Central Committee. Focusing on the fundamental task of moral education and cultivating students' virtues, HUTB has attached great importance to and carried out in-depth education on integrity for college students and the construction of a campus culture of integrity. It regards the construction of a clean and honest culture in the new era as a fundamental project to promote the prevention, prohibition, and resistance against corruption. HUTB has put forward the concept of "clean and honest Party conduct, a pure campus environment, upright teaching, fresh student attitudes, and a clear cultural atmosphere", implemented the "Party building leading" project, and coordinated the use of multiple elements to carry out the construction of a "clean and honest campus". Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and consultant of the Hunan Huaxia Integrity Culture Research Association, stated that to successfully navigate the road of education in the new era, we must continuously enhance our awareness of the fact that comprehensive and strict governance of the Party is an ongoing process. We must persevere in addressing the "Four Malfeasances" (favoring form over substance, bureaucratism, hedonism, and extravagance), vigorously promote the construction of a "clean and honest campus", and promote high-quality development of HUTB's undertakings. This event should be used as an important platform to ignite the flame of integrity culture on campus.

The achievement obtained in this event marks the first time since the establishment of HUTB that we have won first place in a national university selection organized, reviewed, publicized, and announced by the Ministry of Education. It showcases the dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit of HUTB and the university's determination to strive for excellence and be at the forefront. HUTB will continue to strengthen the construction of a clean and honest culture in the new era, strive to uphold integrity and innovation, instill the importance of integrity education in the hearts and minds of students and faculty, and promote the establishment of a long-term and normalized mechanism for integrity education. HUTB will guide cadres, teachers, and students to further consolidate their foundation of clean and honest thinking, cultivate a culture of honest and dedicated public service, develop a sense of self-discipline and moral integrity, and promote a virtuous and incorruptible campus culture.
