From November 11 to 12, the 2023 Annual Conference of the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China, sponsored by the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China and the Fudan Premium Fund of Management, was held in Chongqing. Professor Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a speech.

The theme of this year's conference is "Management Science and Engineering in the Context of the New Era of Artificial Intelligence". Based on the new development stage, it delves into the innovation of management theories, models, methods, and engineering practices under the background of the era of artificial intelligence. The conference also discusses the construction of management disciplines and talent cultivation, aiming to improve the level of disciplinary development and provide theoretical and methodological support for the scientific development of China's economy, society, technology, and decision-making in the era of artificial intelligence. The conference attracted over 1,600 experts, scholars, teachers, and students from nearly 200 domestic and international higher education institutions and research institutes. 

      Academician Chen Xiaohong, in her keynote speech on the morning of November 11, introduced the current development status of China's digital economy, pointing out that the digital economy has become an important engine for stabilizing growth and promoting transformation. She emphasized that a new type of infrastructure centered around big data, large-scale models, and powerful computing capabilities is integrating digital and intelligent technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital twins, metaverse, and the Internet of Things, thereby driving the emergence of new ideas and paradigms for technological innovation and management transformation.

Academician Chen Xiaohong expressed that technologies such as artificial intelligence continue to give rise to new industries, new formats, and new models. She emphasized the need to advance the integrated development of management science and engineering through digitalization and intelligence, continuously improve the new system and mechanisms for cultivating digital talents, utilize high-level platforms for support, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological innovation outcomes, and construct a scientific management system to ensure high-quality economic and social development.

Academician Chen Xiaohong emphasized four aspects to expound on the development trends of management science and engineering disciplines in the context of artificial intelligence. In terms of discipline construction, the empowerment of artificial intelligence will further open the boundaries of traditional disciplines, giving rise to new areas of disciplinary growth and promoting cross-disciplinary knowledge innovation and development, thus forming a situation of deep cross-disciplinary and coordinated development. Regarding talent cultivation, personalized demands present new challenges for talent training. In the era of digital intelligence, talent cultivation requires systematic reforms in educational objectives, content, forms, and methods. In terms of platform support, it is necessary to take the lead in building high-level scientific and technological innovation platforms and accelerate management innovation in the era of digital intelligence. In the aspect of "digital intelligence +" scientific research innovation and management practice, artificial intelligence is innovating intelligent social governance models, accelerating the improvement and efficiency of intelligent manufacturing project management, empowering coordinated management of resources, energy, and the environment, and reshaping the capabilities of intelligent medical services.


Academician Chen Xiaohong believes that achieving the goal of digital and intelligent development and management innovation is a long and arduous task, requiring seizing the opportunities presented by the new generation of information technology, strengthening innovation driving force and digital empowerment, and constructing a management science and engineering discipline system closely aligned with demand, at the forefront, and closely integrated. At the same time, it is necessary to further establish academic exchange platforms for scholars in the fields of management science and artificial intelligence, as well as research and transformation cooperation platforms for the application of artificial intelligence in management. This will facilitate the integration of artificial intelligence technology with practical management needs, and strive to construct an academic discourse system with Chinese characteristics in this discipline.

     The annual conference of the Society for Management Science and Engineering of China is one of the largest high-level academic conferences in China, providing an open academic exchange platform at the forefront for experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs in the fields of management science, engineering, and related areas. Academician Chen Xiaohong's keynote speech at the conference won praise from the attending experts and scholars. Leaders of relevant schools and faculty representatives attended the conference.
