2023-11-21

Recently, the results of the "Thousand Schools, Thousand Projects" online exhibition activity for college student social practice achievements in 2023 were announced. This activity was guided by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, hosted by China Youth Daily, and strategically supported by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Network Literature and Art Communication Center. HUTB's "Art and Sunlight" Volunteer Service Team has successfully been selected as an outstanding team in the "Thousand Schools, Thousand Projects" initiative. This is another national honor we have received, following our successful selection as a volunteer service demonstration team for the 2023 "Colorful Holidays" program, which was announced by the Youth Volunteer Action Guidance Center of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the Secretariat of the Chinese Young Volunteers Association in June.

The "Art and Sunlight" Volunteer Service Team is guided by Chen Xinming, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of the School of Art & Design, and Liu Yujun, a counselor. The team members consist of students from various schools, including the School of Art & Design, the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, the School of Public Administration and Human Geography, and the School of Music. The team upholds the principle of "Art Illuminates Life, Technology Enlightens the Future". During the summer vacation, they organized the "Heartwarming Lyuhetang" summer camp at Lyuhetang Primary School in Xinghe Village, Yuelu District. They offered diverse and colorful classes such as calligraphy, intangible cultural heritage tie-dye, music appreciation, popular science knowledge, and physical exercise for the rural children, creating a joyful and fulfilling "Colorful Holiday" for them. The activity received high praise from the local government and residents. Their efforts were reported more than 20 times by mainstream media both inside and outside HUTB, including china.com.cn, Hunan Today, voc.com.cn, dddxs.com, and HUTB Youth.

The "Thousand Schools, Thousand Projects" online exhibition is a nationwide event that aims to deeply implement and uphold the concept of prioritizing the development of agriculture and rural areas, accelerate the construction of a strong agricultural country, and call on young people to contribute their youthful energy to the comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization. Its purpose is to actively guide young people to inject their youthful vitality into rural areas, assist in the rejuvenation of rural industries, talents, culture, ecology, and organizations, and let youth blossom in the fervent practice of building China into a modern socialist country in all respects. Since its inception, the event has seen active participation from students from over 2000 universities nationwide. Through stages such as work application, qualification screening, online likes, professional review, and expert evaluation, 1000 outstanding works have been selected.
