HUTB Achieves Good Results in Hunan Province University Students Taekwondo Competition

On November 21, the 2023 Hunan Province University Students Taekwondo Competition concluded successfully. Led by Wu Yingguang and Luo Huihui, teachers from the School of Sports and Health, HUTB's Taekwondo team achieved excellent results this year - winning 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the national competition, and then winning 2 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals at the provincial competition.

This event was sponsored by the Department of Education of Hunan Province, with more than 750 athletes from 54 universities across the province participating. HUTB's Taekwondo team, consisting of 15 members, demonstrated exceptional determination and extraordinary skills in the intense competitions, achieving outstanding results for both themselves and the team.

On the first day of the competition, the team events for poomsae were held. HUTB participated in three events: women's team poomsae, women's individual poomsae, and mixed poomsae. In the women's undergraduate team A poomsae competition, our team achieved a score of 6.03, securing first place and winning the championship. Ou Yang, HUTB's poomsae athlete, obtained a high score of 6.30 due to her exceptional execution of movements. On the first day of the competition, HUTB won 2 gold and 1 bronze medals, and achieved second place in the overall team poomsae score, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming days of competitive matches.
From November 19 to 20, the individual competition took place and the matches were intense. On the first day of the individual competition, Wang Jiayun, an athlete from HUTB, competed in the women's 53kg preliminary and semifinal matches. With multiple high-level horizontal and push kicks, Wang Jiayun won by a large margin and successfully advanced to the championship match, ultimately winning the silver medal. Liu Jingying, an athlete from HUTB, competed in the women's 49kg match and won the silver medal with a high-level leg technique and a significant point difference.
On November 20, Tang Yan, an athlete from HUTB, competed against Hunan Police Academy. In a crucial round where her stamina was pushed to the limit, she managed to maintain her lead until the end of the match with her exceptional willpower. She advanced to the semifinals and won the bronze medal. Xie Huang, an athlete from HUTB, easily advanced to the championship match and competed against Hunan First Normal University, challenging the national champion. With a narrow margin, she won the silver medal. Deng Kai, an athlete from HUTB, won against Hunan First Normal University, advancing to the semifinals where he faced Hunan University, the national champion. After a fierce battle, he ultimately won the bronze medal.
On November 21, the final day of the competition, our athletes competed against Changsha University of Science and Technology, Changsha Normal University, and Hunan University. Our team members demonstrated the indomitable spirit of "Sports HUTB" by persevering and fighting bravely.
After four days of intense competition, HUTB's Taekwondo team won a total of 2 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals. With an outstanding performance in the poomsae team event, securing second place overall, and a fourth-place finish in the sparring team event, we have achieved excellent results, further contributing to the "Sports HUTB" campaign.
