On the morning of November 30, the Research Achievement Evaluation and Transformation Conference of HUTB - Xiangjiang Laboratory was held in the Zhiyuan Lecture Hall on the 6th floor of Xiangjiang Building. The conference was attended by Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Wang Minggao, Director of the HUTB Academic Committee, Liu Guoquan, a member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, Yi Mianyang, a member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, and Li Dingjun, Chief Leader of HUTB. Heads of relevant functional departments of the university, heads of various departments of Xiangjiang Laboratory, deans of all secondary schools, and the responsible persons of academic master's programs attended the conference. Vice President Yi Mianyang presided over the conference.
At the meeting, the heads of the Development Planning Division and the Scientific Research Administration Division respectively introduced the current situation, promotion measures, next steps, and relevant indicators system for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the university. They expressed their determination to make breakthroughs and contribute to discipline construction and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements with a belief in victory and a state of decisive battle.
Academician Chen Xiaohong affirmed the achievements made in the previous stage and put forward work requirements for the current deficiencies and bottlenecks: Firstly, we should attach great importance to it ideologically and improve our political stance. And strive to make "useful scientific research" by integrating scientific and technological achievements with national needs, public demands, and market requirements. Secondly, it is important to clarify the existing stock and actively promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Each secondary unit should establish working groups to actively promote high-quality scientific research achievements and build a bridge for communication and cooperation between teachers and enterprises. Thirdly, it is encouraged to advance innovation integration and focus on improving the conversion rate of scientific research achievements. Efforts should be made to promote more high-quality scientific research achievements to move from campus to enterprises, from laboratories to production lines, and from "bookshelves" to "shelves", transforming them into new productive forces. Fourthly, it is important to harness the power of alumni and establish an "alumni + technology" platform for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. We should fully leverage our disciplinary advantages, connect alumni resources, and integrate "talent, technology, funds, resources, and services" in a coordinated manner.
Academician Chen Xiaohong emphasized that success is not achieved by waiting, but by taking action. To achieve the "Three Advances and Three Highs" goal set at the 1st CPC Representative Conference of HUTB and build a first-class innovative technology and business university, it is necessary to further strengthen research support, enhance basic theoretical research, accelerate key core technology breakthroughs, and continuously improve the ability of scientific and technological innovation and transformation. This will contribute to the realization of high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology and the construction of a "technologically strong nation" by HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory.
