1st "Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside" Construction Academic Forum of Hunan Province Held at HUTB

On the morning of December 2, the 1st "Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside" Construction Academic Forum and the expert appointment ceremony of Hunan Beautiful Countryside Construction Research Association were held at HUTB.

Huang Xin, Vice President of Hunan Beautiful Countryside Construction Research Association, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, delivered a speech at the meeting. He pointed out that in recent years, the university has been based on the national rural revitalization strategy and rooted in the practice of rural revitalization in Hunan. It has focused on building a high-end think tank for rural revitalization and has achieved a series of excellent results, providing intellectual support and wisdom for the practice of rural revitalization in Hunan and gaining wide social influence. The research association closely follows the development trend of beautiful countryside construction, meets the demands of grassroots cadres and the masses in rural areas, and fully integrates various social resources. It has become an indispensable and important force in promoting livable, business-friendly, and beautiful rural construction throughout the province. He expressed the hope that the expert committee can further leverage and utilize the professional advantages and valuable experience of industry experts to contribute to the promotion of livable, business-friendly, and beautiful rural construction in Hunan.

Cai Lifeng, former Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress and Chief Advisor of Hunan Beautiful Countryside Construction Research Association, read out the expert appointment documents at the meeting. He also expressed hopes and suggestions for the expert team of the research association: First, they should have a broad vision and elevate their position, effectively serving as the "guiding stars" in providing advice and strategies; second, they should be dedicated and innovative, ensuring the "value" of their recommendations; third, they should be diligent in learning and practicing, pragmatic and enterprising, and enhance their "fundamental skills" in planning and strategizing, thus adding brilliance to the new chapter of China's modernization practice in Hunan.

Chen Donggui, former Secretary of the Leading CPC Group of, Director, and First-level Inspector of the Food and Strategic Reserves Department of Hunan Province, and Director of the expert committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust and support from the research association and all the leaders and experts. He stated that he will lead the expert committee to continue their efforts with full enthusiasm, a truth-seeking attitude, and a pragmatic style. They will adhere to the principle of putting farmers first and standing with the masses, further exerting the "leading", "bridging", and "think tank" roles of the expert committee. They will make more significant contributions to accelerating the construction of livable, business-friendly, and "Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside" with Hunan characteristics.

Wu Jingru, Second-level Inspector of Hunan Federation of Social Sciences, stated that in recent years, the provincial federation of social sciences has fully played the role of a "think tank" and "brain trust", providing intellectual support for buiding Hunan into a modern and strong province. He expressed the hope that the research association and expert committee will take this forum as an opportunity to transform the results of investigation and research, academic exchanges, and popular science publicity into a powerful driving force for promoting high-quality development in Hunan, and work hard to write a new chapter in the construction of "Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside".

Ma Yanqing, member of the Leading CPC Group of and Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province, introduced the achievements made in the construction of "Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside" in the province. He expressed the hope that experts and scholars will focus on the theme of the construction of "Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside" and provide insights and suggestions for the new tasks and challenges faced in the new era and new journey. This will contribute to the revitalization of rural areas in Hunan and help consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, as well as promote comprehensive rural revitalization throughout the province.

During the theme report session of the forum, Zou Dongsheng, President of Hunan Beautiful Countryside Construction Research Association, delivered a keynote speech titled "Issues and Countermeasures in the Construction of Livable, Business-friendly, Harmonious and Beautiful Countryside in Hunan Province". Zheng Weimin, Vice President of the University of South China and Chief Expert of the Sub-Committee on Rural Planning, delivered a keynote speech titled "Learning from Others' Strong Points: Insights from the 'Thousand Villages Demonstration and Ten Thousand Villages Renovation' project for the Construction of 'Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside’". Liu Weiping, Deputy Secretary of CPC Xiangnan University Committee and Chief Expert of the Sub-Committee on Rural Governance, delivered a keynote speech titled "Resilient Governance: Making Rural Areas Sustainable, Harmonious and Beautiful - A Perspective on the Construction of 'Harmonious and Beautiful Hunan Countryside'". Luo Lin, Dean of the College of Resources at Hunan Agricultural University and Chief Expert of the Sub-Committee on Ecology and Environment, delivered a keynote speech titled "Building a Beautiful Hunan and Benefiting Millions of Farmers". Jiang Hui, Dean of the Graduate School of Jishou University and Specially-appointed Expert of the Sub-Committee on Rural Industries, delivered a keynote speech titled "The Triple Logic, Strategic Pathway, and Key Measures of Constructing Beautiful and Harmonious Countryside". Luo Huping, Deputy Dean of the School of Public Administration and Human Geography at HUTB, and Chief Expert of the Sub-Committee on Rural Ethos and Civilization, delivered a keynote speech titled "Constructing Spatial Rights: The Logical Interpretation of Spatial Reconstruction Promoting Rural Revitalization". The academic atmosphere on-site was intense, and the discussions were in-depth and enthusiastic.

He Lijun, former full-time deputy director of the Office of the Rural Work Leading Group of Hunan Provincial CPC Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Leading CPC Group of and First-level Inspector of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province, and Deputy Director of the expert committee, provided comments on the keynote speeches given by the six experts and scholars. He expressed that the speeches were rich in content and had unique insights, fully reflecting the spirit of combining theory with practice. They showcased the characteristics and highlights of Hunan and explored the directions and approaches for constructing harmonious and beautiful countryside. He also mentioned that suggestions and countermeasures for the construction of harmonious and beautiful countryside were put forward. We should actively adopt innovative ideas, constantly explore and improve in practice, and jointly promote the rural revitalization in Hunan, creating a more beautiful and prosperous countryside.
