HUTB Holds “Light of Humanity” Poetry Party and Award Ceremony for the 3rd “I Love HUTB, Build a New Era Together” Campus Cultural Works Competition

Technology and business convey elegance, while poetry and books nurture brilliance. On the evening of December 20, the university held the “Light of Humanity” poetry party and the award ceremony for the 3rd Campus Cultural Works Competition with the theme of “I Love HUTB, Build a New Era Together” in the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall of the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, and Yang Liangqi, a member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, attended the event. Leaders from secondary departments and schools and representatives of faculties and students also attended the ceremony.
This evening event was hosted by the CPC Committee Publicity Department of HUTB and co-organized by the School of Digital Media Engineering and Humanities, the School of Music, and the HUTB Youth League Committee. Renowned host Li Bing, young actors Yang Wenhui and Liu Hao from the Hunan Quyi Artists Association, and singer Wang Bao from the Hunan Song and Dance Ensemble were invited to perform. Our university's Tianyin Chorus, Changfeng Chorus, as well as some teachers and students from the School of Digital Media Engineering and Humanities and the School of Music participated in the performance. The performance is divided into four parts: the overture “Song of Xiangjiang,” the first part “Elegance and Harmony in Praise of HUTB,” the second part “I Sing for My Country,” and the finale “Striving on Xiangjiang River to Achieve Excellence.” Through recitation, choir singing, dance, Shulaibao (rhythmic story-telling to clapper accompaniment) and other artistic forms, it demonstrates the achievements of the university’s humanistic education.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the event. On behalf of CPC HUTB Committee, she warmly congratulated the organization of the event and the students and teachers who won awards in the 3rd Campus Cultural Works Competition. She expressed heartfelt thanks to the faculties and students who have made contributions to the rich campus culture and the construction of a “Cultural HUTB.” She pointed out that the university has adhered to the integrated development of “new engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses” and science to promote the construction of the “Seven Major Technology and Business Courses” in recent years. The university has organized a series of activities that nourish students' souls, inspire their wisdom, enhance their cultural literacy, and cultivate their aesthetic taste. As a result, the university's cultural soft power has been continuously strengthened.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong stated that this event is another important measure for our university to implement Xi Jinping’s cultural ideology and strengthen the construction of “Cultural HUTB”. She expressed the hope that all departments of the university will actively respond to the needs of students' development, the high-quality development of the university, and the development of the times, continue to solidly promote the construction of “Cultural HUTB”, integrate cultural education into every aspect of talent cultivation. She also expressed the hope that HUTB students will consciously establish and practice socialist core values, cultivate noble spiritual realm and excellent moral character, shape a healthy and perfect personality, constantly improve their humanistic and scientific literacy, and strive to become knowledgeable, open-minded, morally sound, and ambitious college students in the new era.
Subsequently, the attending university leaders and student representatives pressed the button together during the countdown by the audience, officially launching the “Light of Humanity” themed event at HUTB. The first prize winners of the six tracks of the 3rd “I Love HUTB, Build the New Era Together” Campus Cultural Works Competition were announced on the spot, and the audience burst into enthusiastic applause.
The Tianyin Female Teacher Chorus took the stage first and sang the song “The Motherland Will Not Forget”. The singing was full of enthusiasm, inspiring people to move forward. It praised and celebrated the national defense scientific and technological workers, and also expressed the voice of the silently dedicated workers.
The recitation of the poem “Song of Xiangjiang” was delivered with appropriate pitch and pace, demonstrating the scientific and technological workers in the new era striving hard, climbing high peaks, and embracing the era with beautiful language and passionate recitation.
he collective recitation of “Ode to the Academy” was performed with a rhythmic tone and passionate delivery, allowing everyone to appreciate the scholarly atmosphere of HUTB. In the beautiful environment of “entering the academy with lifted feet and reading upon sitting down,” one can feel the flourishing atmosphere of poetry and literature.
The collective recitation of “Ode to HUTB” creatively incorporated the performance of virtual digital characters created using artificial intelligence technology, allowing technology and humanities to dance together. This fully showcased the cultural characteristics of cross-disciplinary integration and pioneering innovation.
The dance “Beautiful HUTB” was performed against the backdrop of hand-painted campus scenery by faculties and students. It portrays touching campus stories with graceful and captivating dance movements. It exudes a unique charm and captivates the audience, immersing them in the performance.
The recitation of the poem “Heroes” depicts a vivid picture of ordinary yet great heroes emerging one after another. It praises the fearless heroes who bravely devote themselves to the nation and the people, carving the spirit of heroism between the lines. It evokes a sense of respect in people's hearts.
“There is a path in the mountain of books, and diligence is the way; in the endless sea of teaching, love is the boat.” Shulaibao “There is a Path in the Mountain of Books” humorously recounts the details of the learning process, earning unanimous praise from the teachers and students present.
The collective recitation of “You Have Been Here, with Clear River and Clean Wind” is created based on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s inspection in Hunan in September 2020. By narrating the remarkable achievements made by Hunan in the past three years, it expresses admiration and gratitude towards General Secretary Xi Jinping.
The duet “Every Border Competes with Jiangnan” has a melodious and pleasant melody. It praises the remarkable achievements of the soldiers stationed at the border, highlighting their contributions that surpass the prosperity of Jiangnan. It expresses the boundless aspirations of people of all ethnic groups in the border regions for a better life.
“Leading with technology, breaking through the waves with the wind.” With a loud and firm voice, the recitation of “Ode to Innovation of Xiangjiang” passionately praises the pioneering spirit of Xiangjiang Laboratory's determination to create a national strategic technology force. It also commends the tireless exploration spirit of scientific researchers.
Finally, all teachers and students sang in unison “We Are Marching on the Great Road” and the “Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business.” The spirited singing filled the air with confidence and hope, taking the atmosphere to a new climax. With this, the 2023 HUTB “Light of Humanity” poetry party and the award ceremony for the 3rd “I Love HUTB, Build a New Era Together” Campus Cultural Works Competition ended successfully amidst a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.
