HUTB Holds Grand Groundbreaking Ceremony for Construction Project of Yueliangdao Campus

The Jade Rabbit bids farewell to the old year, while the Flying Dragon welcomes the Spring Festival. On the morning of December 29, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction project of Yueliangdao Campus at HUTB was successfully held in the Dazehu area of Wangcheng District, Changsha.

Chen Xiaohong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, and Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory; Chai Shiqin, Second-level Inspector of the Department of Education of Hunan Province; Cai Feng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Wangcheng District Committee and Governor of the People’s Government of Wangcheng District; Liu Guoquan, Member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB; Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB; Yang Liangqi, Member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB; He Longde, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of HUTB; Yi Mianyang, Member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB; Chief Leaders Li Dingjun and Nie Guoqing; Chen Ming, Member of CPC HUTB Committee, attended the ceremony. Officials from relevant departments of Wangcheng District Government, heads of various secondary departments and schools of the university, officials from the Dazehu Subdistrict, and representatives from the construction unit also attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Yang Liangqi.

Chen Xiaohong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, and Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, delivered a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony. She stated that the university adheres to the educational philosophy of integrating “New engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses” with science, and Xiangjiang Laboratory is committed to building advanced strategic scientific and technological strength in the fields of advanced computing and artificial intelligence. After the completion of Yueliangdao Campus, it will become another important teaching and research experimental site. The university will adhere to a high starting point plan, high-level design, and high-standard construction, striving to create a modern, high-quality, and exemplary university campus, accelerate the construction of an innovative and first-class university of technology and business with distinct characteristics, and inject new vitality into Changsha’s ambition to build a global R&D center city and achieve the “Three Highlands, Four New Missions” blueprint for a better Hunan.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong has put forward work requirements for the high-quality completion of the new campus construction: to improve positioning to promote development, strengthen coordination to promote construction, and standardize management to promote excellence. It is necessary to not only focus on the construction schedule but also ensure construction quality, making the new campus construction project a “clean project,” a “boutique project,” and a “highlight project.”

Chai Shiqin, Second-level Inspector of the Department of Education of Hunan Province, delivered a speech at the event. He stated that HUTB has achieved historic accomplishments in various undertakings under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiaohong in recent years, demonstrating a promising future. The completion of Yueliangdao Campus will effectively promote the further improvement of the quality of higher education in our province, better meet the expectations of the people for high-quality education, and provide strong intellectual support and talent guarantee for the sustainable development of the economy and society. He expressed the hope that all parties can cooperate for a win-win situation, radiate and drive each other, and build the new campus safely, with high quality and efficiency. This will create a new model of multi-party cooperation, work together to create a new highland for serving the development of the social economy, and demonstrate responsibility in realizing the blueprint of “Three Highlands, Four New Missions”.

Cai Feng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Wangcheng District Committee and Governor of Wangcheng District People’s Government, delivered a speech. He pointed out that HUTB’s Yueliangdao Campus is adjacent to the Dazehu area, one of the “three bases” for building a global R&D center city in Changsha and one of the “ten major urban areas” in Changsha. The location advantage is unparalleled, and the development potential is unlimited. It is an important carrier for Wangcheng District to establish its education brand and a major achievement for the development of higher education and the creation of a higher education platform in Wangcheng. Wangcheng District will work hand in hand with HUTB to further deepen cooperation between the university and the local area, explore the construction of an integrated platform for industry, academia, and research, promote each other and create brilliance together, and contribute greater strength to the development of education in Hunan.

In a warm atmosphere, Academician Chen Xiaohong and other relevant guests jointly laid the foundation for the “cornerstone”. The applause at the scene was thunderous, and everyone was filled with blessings and expectations, witnessing another important moment in the innovative development of the university together.

It is reported that the Yueliangdao Campus of HUTB covers an area of 115 mu, with the first phase of land covering approximately 30 mu, and a total construction area of about 44,000 square meters. After completion, it will meet the teaching and research needs of more than 5,000 students. The first phase of the project includes three individual buildings, namely the New Engineering Teaching and Experimental Center, the cafeteria (including the student activity center and logistics ancillary facilities), and student dormitories, as well as supporting infrastructure. The completion of the Yueliangdao Campus will help to give full play to the advantages of the Dazehu Ecological Smart City, returning overseas talents’ town, and teaching and research resources of HUTB. It will better cultivate outstanding talents with international perspectives, better utilize the research and development advantages of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and make new contributions to the development of the local economy and the higher education cause in Hunan Province.
