HUTB Holds Special Research Symposium on Integrated Development of Culture and Technology

On the afternoon of April 2, the university held a special research symposium on the integrated development of culture and technology at the Zhiyuan Lecture Hall on the 6th floor of the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Liu Guoquan, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, He Longde, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of HUTB, and Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, attended the meeting. Heads of related functional departments and leaders of all secondary schools also participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, heads of relevant secondary schools reported on the progress and shortcomings in promoting the integrated development of culture and technology at the school level, as well as the work plans and construction ideas for the next stage.
The attending Chief Leaders put forward requirements for the comprehensive promotion of the integrated development of culture and technology across the university. Heads of relevant functional departments expressed their commitment to systematically promoting the integrated development of culture and technology.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong pointed out in her concluding remarks that it is necessary to thoroughly implement the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Hunan, implement the decision-making arrangements of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan, promote deep involvement of the university and the Xiangjiang Laboratory in the integrated development of culture and technology, help create a new and beautiful business card for Hunan, and contribute to the implementation of the strategy for the rise of the central region. She emphasized that for the university to deeply engage in the integrated development of culture and technology, it is necessary, firstly, to unify ideology with the decision-making arrangements of the CPC HUTB Committee, actively participate in promoting the "integrated development of culture and technology" and the "Artificial Intelligence+" initiative, deepen interdisciplinary integration, seize new opportunities, compete in new fields, cultivate new advantages, and create a new growth pole for the university. Secondly, it is essential to firmly shoulder responsibilities and implement concrete actions, seizing opportunities promptly and making the most of them. In accordance with new development requirements, adjustments should be made in a timely manner to discipline and major structures, talent cultivation systems, scientific research directions, and social service models, thereby forming new distinctive highlights. Thirdly, it is important to steadily promote the in-depth integration of industry, university, and research, actively integrate into the innovation chain and industry chain, continuously improve the quality and level of talent cultivation, and nurture a greater number of high-quality talents with interdisciplinary and compound expertise. Fourthly, it is crucial to persist in conducting "groundbreaking" research, promoting the transformation and implementation of scientific and technological innovation achievements. Through new technologies and methods, we can achieve new presentation forms and application effects, thereby creating new quality productive forces for the development of the university and Xiangjiang Laboratory.
