On the morning of February 4, the day of Beginning of Spring, the university held a gathering at Conference Room 406 in No.2 Office Building to extend festive greetings to retired veteran cadres including Liu Dianxing, former Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee. Liao Zhikun, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, Yang Liangqi, Hou Junjun, Zhao Hua and Mo Xiangyi, Vice Presidents of HUTB, attended the event, together with heads of relevant functional departments. The event was presided over by Liao Xiangyue.

Representatives of the retired veteran cadres delivered speeches at the meeting. They said that the condolence activity had made them deeply feel the care and concern of the university. In recent years, the university had achieved rapid development in all undertakings, and the university attached great importance to the work concerning retired veteran comrades. The veteran comrades were delighted with the development of the university and shared the joy brought by its progress. They would continue to care about the university and its development, and wholeheartedly contribute to the development of the university as always. The retired veteran cadres also put forward valuable opinions and suggestions on the future development of the university at the meeting. 

Liao Zhikun extended cordial greetings to the retired veteran cadres, presented flowers and best wishes, expressed sincere gratitude to them for their contributions to the development of the university, and extended Spring Festival greetings to them. He briefed the participants on the university's development in the past year and its development plans for the new year. He noted that the university's development was the result of the unremitting efforts of generations and the joint promotion of successive leading bodies. The achievements were hard-won and embodied the wisdom and dedication of the veteran leaders and comrades. He hoped that they would continue to care for and support the development of the university as always. The university will closely rely on all faculty and students, pool efforts, uphold its fine traditions, promote its distinctive strengths, uphold integrity while pursuing innovation, work hard, improve its modern governance capacity, strengthen connotation-oriented development, and promote high-quality development of all undertakings.
