2026-04-29
The latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data released by Clarivate Analytics, a globally recognized third-party evaluation agency, confirms that HUTB’s Computer Science discipline has entered the global top 1% of ESI rankings. With this milestone, HUTB now has two disciplines—Engineering and Computer Science—ranking among the global top 1% of ESI, reflecting the university’s steadily growing international academic influence and core competitiveness. Statistics show the discipline currently has 243 papers indexed by ESI, with a total of 5,755 citations, an average of 23.68 citations per paper, and 17 top papers.
Aligning closely with major national strategic demands, HUTB has adopted a forward-looking approach to discipline development. The university has implemented key initiatives in critical frontiers—including next-generation artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and the digital economy—to build a robust disciplinary foundation. ESI, a bibliometric database developed by Clarivate Analytics based on over 12,000 global academic journals and more than 10 million indexed records, is internationally recognized as a key benchmark for evaluating the academic impact and influence of universities, research institutions, and national/regional systems. This breakthrough for the Computer Science discipline arrives at the launch of the university’s 15th Five-Year Plan period, standing as another significant achievement of HUTB’s strategy to cultivate world-class disciplines. Seizing this momentum, the university will further strengthen the guiding role of discipline development, optimize its academic layout, and advance interdisciplinary integration. By focusing on key, emerging, and converging fields, HUTB aims to enhance its core competitiveness and global influence, elevating its academic standing to new heights and injecting fresh momentum into the university’s high-quality development.
