HUTB Held Alumni Fan Jianwen Donation Ceremony and Alumni Scholarship Award Ceremony

On the afternoon of June 13, HUTB held a donation ceremony for alumnus Fan Jianwen in the conference room on the 6th floor of the Economic Management Complex. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, as well as Gan Dejian, Vice President of the university and President of HUTB Alumni Association, attended the ceremony. Heads of relevant departments and representatives of faculty and students also participated. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Gan Dejian.

During the donation ceremony, Fan Jianwen, an alumnus from the Class of 1992 majoring in price studies, and Chairman of Guangdong Fudi Supply Chain Co., Ltd., donated RMB2 million to establish the "Fudi Scholarship" (Third Phase), aimed at rewarding outstanding students.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong presented a donation certificate to alumnus Fan Jianwen and expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of CPC HUTB Committee for his long-standing care, support, and generous donations. She noted that Fan Jianwen's repeated contributions to his alma mater and ongoing support exemplify his great love and sense of responsibility. The university's recent rapid development has been made possible in part due to the contributions and support of its alumni. Secretary Chen hoped that alumni would continue to care for and support the university's high-quality development and grow together with their alma mater toward the future.

During the donation ceremony, alumnus Fan Jianwen expressed his gratitude for the education he received from his alma mater. He stated that under the leadership of Secretary Chen Xiaohong, the university has achieved significant development accomplishments, and alumni take great pride in these achievements. He pledged to continue his efforts in contributing even more to the development of his alma mater in the future.

Alumnus Fan Jianwen previously donated RMB200,000 to establish the "Fudi Scholarship" (Phase One) in 2009, followed by another donation of RMB500,000 to establish the "Fudi Scholarship" (Phase Two) in 2016. In this latest contribution, he donated an additional RMB2 million to establish the "Fudi Scholarship" (Phase Three). In addition, during the university's 70th-anniversary celebrations in 2019, alumnus Fan Jianwen donated RMB300,000 to support the development of his alma mater, bringing his total contributions to over RMB3 million.

Subsequently, the university held the 2023 Alumni Scholarship Awards Ceremony in the Yingcai Lecture Hall, Library of HUTB, with Vice President Gan Dejian in attendance.

At the ceremony, alumnus Zeng Li, the founder of the "Nian'en Scholarship,"  alumnus Fan Jianwen, the founder of the "Fudi Scholarship,” alumnus Lei Liang, the founder of the "Zhifen Scholarship,"  and alumnus Liu Yanbo, the founder of the "Xinye Scholarship,” shared their thoughts and experiences with the students who received the scholarships. They encouraged the younger students to cultivate a sense of patriotism, set ambitious goals, refine their character, improve themselves, practice gratitude, show compassion, and strive to give back to society and their alma mater. They emphasized the importance of becoming the new generation capable of undertaking the great mission of national rejuvenation.

In 2023, the university reviewed and awarded a total of six scholarships. These scholarships include the "Nian'en Scholarship" established by alumnus Zeng Li and his spouse from the class of 1990 in accounting major, the "Fudi Scholarship" established by alumnus Fan Jianwen from the class of 1992 in price major, the "Carpoli Assistance Fund" established by alumnus Wang Shukun from the class of 1999 in tourism management major, the "Xufeng Scholarship" established by alumnus Liu Xufeng from the class of 1999 in accounting major, the "Zhifen Scholarship" established by alumnus Lei Liang and his spouse from the class of 2003 in marketing major, and the "Xinye Scholarship" established by alumnus Liu Yanbo from the class of 2003 in telecommunications major. These scholarships amounted to a total of RMB670,000 and provided financial assistance to 173 outstanding and financially disadvantaged students. In recent years, the university has cumulatively awarded more than RMB4 million in alumni scholarships.
