3rd National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers, with the theme of "Promoting Teaching Innovation and Cultivating First-Class Talents," closely aligned with the theme of building a high-quality education system. It delved deeply into promoting teaching reform in higher education and effectively supported the construction of the "Four New Missions". The competition aimed to cultivate top-tier talents, thereby implementing the fundamental task of moral education and talent cultivation. It emphasized integrating ideological education into the curriculum and aligning it with the goals of the "Four New Missions," promoting the integration of information technology into education, and fostering a new pattern of dedication to education and teaching among university teachers. The competition was launched in October 2022 and lasted for ten months, covering 13 academic disciplines. Nationwide, a total of 23,088 teachers participated in the provincial competitions, with 465 courses and 1,701 teachers advancing to the national competition. Among them, 239 courses and 898 teachers were selected for on-site evaluations. The competition had a wide scope, extensive participation, and a diverse range of course categories, making it one of the most significant and influential teaching competitions in recent years.
During the preparation process, the CPC HUTB Committee attached great importance to it, and the Academic Affairs Division and relevant secondary schools organized it meticulously. After going through stages such as school preliminaries, university finals, provincial semi-finals, provincial finals, national semi-finals, and finals, participating teachers devoted a considerable amount of time and effort, even during winter and summer vacations and their leisure time. They overcame numerous challenges and continuously refined and improved their competition entries. The Academic Affairs Division carefully formulated a systematic preparation plan, organized teams of experts from inside and outside the province to support the competition, provided multiple training sessions, and offered one-on-one targeted guidance to participating teachers on their teaching videos, teaching innovation reports, and on-site presentations. These efforts laid a solid foundation for the university's teachers to achieve outstanding results.
Zhu Yongjun and his team’s Advanced Financial Accounting course
Zhu Yongjun and his team’s Advanced Financial Accounting course was the first to propose, research, and implement the "Five-Dimensional Teaching Method" comprehensive teaching model. This model systematically innovates and optimizes teaching content and methods from five dimensions: conceptual depth, depth of understanding, style of presentation, emotional engagement, and intensity of learning.
Mo Jiaojiao and her team’s Comprehensive Business English course
Mo Jiaojiao and her team’s Comprehensive Business English course closely follows the new requirements for ideological and political education in foreign language courses. The course adopts content-based teaching as its core approach and designs the BEADS teaching model. It innovatively establishes an integrated approach both within and outside the campus, online and offline, and integrates theory and practice in the "Three-Integrated" teaching evaluation method. This approach enhances students' learning abilities, critical thinking, and practical skills.
Li Xiaobo and his team’s University Physics course
Li Xiaobo and his team’s University Physics course focuses on addressing common issues such as students' weak foundations and lack of interest in the subject. They have implemented a blended innovation approach, which includes the creation of an engaging virtual teaching and research platform, restructuring visual teaching content, innovating classroom organization methods, sharing knowledge maps for different chapters, establishing a digital smart learning environment, and integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum. This approach provides an immersive learning experience throughout the teaching process, characterized by five dimensions: digitalization, personalization, visualization, ideological and political integration, and fun.
The university will take this competition as an opportunity to closely align with the theme of building a high-quality education system, deeply implement the important discourse on education by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and fulfill the fundamental task of moral education and nurturing talent. The university will follow the guiding ideology of "promoting teaching through competition, promoting learning through competition, promoting reform through competition, and promoting development through competition." It will fully leverage the demonstrative effect of the teaching innovation contest to continuously stimulate the motivation for teaching innovation among faculty, strengthen teachers' ability in integrating ideological and political education into their courses, promote the integration of information technology with education and teaching, and further advance the university's educational and teaching work to new heights.
