[Integrated Development of Culture and Technology] “Toward 2035: Integration and Innovation for the Future” Technology and Culture Expo and the 2nd Sc

The integration of culture and technology will drive future growth and success. On May 31, the “Toward 2035: Integration and Innovation for the Future” Technology and Culture Expo and the 2nd Science and Technology Festival, jointly organized by HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory, took place in the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall. A number of academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) attended the event, including He Jishan, Lu Xicheng, Hu Wenrui, Lu Chunfang, Ouyang Xiaoping, Fan Guobin, Liu He, Chen Xiaohong, Yang Changfeng, Yang Hong, and Wu Aixiang. Also in attendance was Liu Zhongmin, a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering and Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory. The event also welcomed He Qinghua, the founder and Honorary Chairman of the Board of Sunward Intelligent Machinery Co., Ltd; Zhao Shuming, a senior professor from the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at Nanjing University and Honorary Dean of its Business School; and Cai Li, former Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Jilin University. Additionally, Song Yongduan, Dean of the Artificial Intelligence Institute at Chongqing University, and Li Xinchun, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee at Sun Yat-sen University, were among the distinguished scholars and experts in attendance.

He Zhaohui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Working Committee of and Director of the Management Committee of the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area (Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone), was joined by esteemed guests, including Tong Laisheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province; Che Lihua, Deputy Director of the Public Security Department of Hunan Province; Li Yong, Chairman of Hunan Energy Investment Group; Cai Huaijun, General Manager of Hunan Broadcasting System; Zheng Wenjiang, Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies at the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Xiao Chan, Deputy Director of the National Climate Center; Zhang Ligang, Chairman of Hunan Xiangjiang Development Group; Tan Xiancai, General Manager of Bakertilly; Wei Hongzhang, Co-founder of Shenzhen TWSC; Liu Hui, General Manager of Lenovo Group's Management Department; Liu Jie, Deputy General Manager of TUSUAV; Liu Yanbo, Executive Director of Zhuhai Xinye Electronic Technology Co. Ltd.; Chen Yanyan, Deputy General Manager of Hunan Vanlin Wire & Cable Co., Ltd.; Li Zhiming, Deputy General Manager of Tianyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.; and Liu Yang, General Manager of San Dianshui New Energy. The event also welcomed distinguished leaders from HUTB, including Liao Xiangyue, Liu Guoquan, Yang Liangqi, Gan Dejian, Yi Mianyang, Hou Junjun, and Nie Guoqing, as well as Chen Ming, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee, and deputy directors of Xiangjiang Laboratory Kou Gang and Hu Chunhua. Additionally, representatives from various provincial-level departments, enterprises, institutions, alumni, and faculty and student representatives were in attendance.

Chen Xiaohong, Academician of CAE, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony on behalf of the organizers. She emphasized that the “Towards 2035: Integration and Innovation for the Future” Technology and Culture Expo and the 2nd Science and Technology Festival represent a significant step forward in the integrated development of culture and technology. The event has been designed to thoroughly implement the strategic decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the work requirements of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province. It aims to further enhance the university's signature brands in innovation, culture and artistic development, so as to better facilitate the personal and academic development of students. The university is committed to nurturing interdisciplinary talent with a comprehensive understanding of expertise in five domains: cultural innovation, technology, industry, management, and finance. This initiative is part of our overarching objective to accelerate the school's high-quality growth and make proactive contributions to the realization of Hunan's “Three Highlands, Four New Missions” vision for technological advancement and economic growth, as well as to the nation's aspirations of becoming a leading cultural and technological powerhouse.

Academician Chen Xiaohong stated, “We will spearhead technological and cultural integration, consistently contributing the insights and wisdom of HUBT and Xiangjiang Laboratory. We will facilitate reform and innovation, promote cultural development and reinforce technological self-sufficiency”. She hoped that the attendees would not only engage in the exchange of intellectual perspectives and explore the frontiers of innovation, but also immerse themselves in the interactive experience of a campus environment teeming with innovation and cultural charm, and characterized by the integrated development of culture and technology. Furthermore, she hoped that the faculty and students would grasp avant-garde ideas and benefit from the insights of experts in high-end forums. They will experience the allure and mystery of science and technology through events such as scientific and technological exhibitions and “Innovation for Metaverse II”, and gain a deeper appreciation for the profound significance and beauty of culture from events such as the Creativity Bazaar, the traditional Chinese culture exhibition, and the Hunan Mercantile Culture Exhibition. Lastly, she extended her wishes for all guests, faculty, and students to partake in the boundless enchantment of the fusion of culture and technology at the event of “Toward 2035: Integration and Innovation for the Future”.

On behalf of the Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province, Deputy Director Tong Laisheng extended a warm welcome to all esteemed guests at this forum and expressed his gratitude to all those who have consistently supported the advancement of science and technology in Hunan. He emphasized that HUTB has consistently adopted an integrated approach to education, technology, and talent cultivation. The university has been actively pursuing the “AI+” initiative and has fully leveraged the technological strengths of the “Four-In-One Computing System” (general commuting, intelligent computing, supercomputing and quantum computing) of Xiangjiang Laboratory, establishing itself as a leader in the province in terms of practical experience in this field. The expo offers a plethora of events, encompassing diverse formats and novel perspectives. It provides a platform for creativity and human ingenuity to converge and flourish. The expo will significantly accelerate the integration of culture and technology, driving groundbreaking advancements. He stated that, under the guidance of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, coupled with collective efforts across all sectors, Hunan is well-positioned to achieve notable outcomes through concrete efforts in the integrated development of culture and technology. The Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province is committed to continuously enhancing the coordination of resources and collaborative research endeavors. They are fully dedicated to providing robust services and support for the integrated development of technology and culture, reinforcing technological support for high-quality economic and social progress of the province. He also extended his best wishes for the success of the expo.

At the unveiling of the scientific and technological achievements of Xiangjiang Laboratory and HUTB, esteemed guests, faculty and students watched together a promotional video showcasing these innovations. Subsequently, esteemed academicians He Jishan, Lu Xicheng, Hu Wenrui, Lu Chunfang, and Chen Xiaohong, together with Director He Chaohui, took to the stage to announce a total of 46 scientific and technological achievements from Xiangjiang Laboratory and 138 from HUTB. The achievements cover a wide range of fields, including artificial intelligence, advanced computing, intelligent sensing, intelligent manufacturing, electronic communications, resources and environment, smart communities, and culture and technology.

In the subsequent signing ceremony between Xiangjiang Laboratory and the fourth batch of its collaborative partners, Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, entered into agreements with representatives from various organizations, including Che Lihua, Deputy Director of the Public Security Department of Hunan Province; Cai Huaijun, General Manager of Hunan Broadcasting System; and Zhou Lingfang, Deputy General Manager of Hunan Energy Investment Group. Additionally, contracts were signed with Zhang Ligang, Chairman of the Board of Xiangjiang Development Group; Liu Hui, General Manager of Lenovo Group's Management Department; Liu Jie, Deputy General Manager of TUSUAV; and Liu Yanbo, Executive Director of Zhuhai Xinye Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. Contracts were also signed with Chen Yanyan, Deputy General Manager of Hunan Vanlin Wire & Cable Co., Ltd.; Li Zhiming, Deputy General Manager of Tianyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.; and Liu Yang, General Manager of San Dian Shui New Energy. These agreements signal the advent of a new phase of collaborative development and a collective journey towards a promising future.

Following this, academicians, experts and leaders took to the stage. With the countdown and enthusiastic applause from the audience, they pressed a button on an electronic screen, marking the official launch of the “Toward 2035: Integration and Innovation for the Future” Technology and Culture Expo and the 2nd Science and Technology Festival of HUTB.

At the event, guests, faculty and students also enjoyed the performances by the university's flag team and military band, as well as martial arts performances and traditional dragon and lion dances by the traditional Chinese sports team. The attendees were treated to the performance of the world-renowned “Hungarian Dances” by the Xiangjiang Symphony Orchestra, a duet performance of “Cheers for the Motherland” by young artists from the School of Music, and the Chinese instrumental ensemble performance of “Of King Lanling's Entry into the Battlefield”. These performances exemplified the unwavering spirit and dedication to excellence of HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory. They also highlighted our achievements in developing humanities, arts, and sports programs, as well as the confidence and optimism of our faculty and students.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees toured the Research Exhibition Hall and various labs at Xiangjiang Laboratory, and attended a variety of events such as the “Engaging with the Technologies of Tomorrow” AI-themed exhibition, the “Innovation for Metaverse II: My Heart is Slightly Larger Than the Cosmos” AI+ Design Art Exhibition, the “HUTB’s Celebration of Cultural Heritage” Traditional Chinese Culture Exhibition, the “Resplendent·Future” fashion show, and the “Adore my country, the Xiangjiang River and HUTB” Photography and Calligraphy Exhibition. Additionally, attendees viewed the demonstrations of intelligent equipment and low-altitude aircraft, performances of intelligent robots, performances showcasing intangible cultural heritage, folk music performances, fashion shows, the creative process of calligraphy and Chinese paintings, and outdoor concerts. They also had the opportunity to sample traditional handmade delicacies and beverages. They spoke highly of the expo, the academic excellence of HUTB, and the achievements of Xiangjiang Laboratory.

The “Towards 2035: Integration and Innovation for the Future” Technology and Culture Expo and the 2nd Science and Technology Festival of HUTB, which spans three days, includes a vast array of 25 engaging activities. These include the opening ceremony, the Lushan Lecture Series and Cadre Lecture Series, major scientific research project review meetings, the “Four-In-One Computing System” technology sharing sessions, the AI+ design artworks exhibition, and the artificial intelligence-themed science and technology exhibition. The event also features science and technology project financing road shows, cultural HUTB lecture series, the science and technology innovation forum, the innovation and entrepreneurship alumni forum, innovation and entrepreneurship project road shows, concerts featuring famous Chinese and foreign music, the special concert and dance party, the Hunan mercantile culture exhibition, the traditional culture exhibition, the creativity bazaar, college students’ concerts, and the food festival.
