HUTB Holds 2024 Alumni Scholarship Awarding Ceremony

On the afternoon of May 30, the university's 2024 Alumni Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held in the Yingcai Lecture Hall of the Library. Gan Dejian, member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, attended the ceremony. Heads of the Student Affairs Division, Alumni Office, representatives of alumni scholarship founders, deputy secretaries of the CPC Committees of various secondary schools, representatives of instructors, and scholarship recipients were present. The ceremony was hosted by Zhang Hong, Director of the Alumni Office.
During the ceremony, Director Zhang Hong introduced the setup of the alumni scholarships. Li Jilin, Director of the Student Affairs Division, read the Notice on the Evaluation Results of the 2024 Alumni Scholarships. Vice President Gan Dejian and representatives of the awarding alumni presented certificates to the scholarship recipients.
Vice President Gan Dejian, on behalf of the university, expressed profound respect and sincere gratitude for the alumni's great love and dedication. He also extended three hopes to the scholarship recipients: first, to set the aspiration to serve the country; second, to sail with the spirit of youth; and third, to pursue a path of progress, becoming responsible "successors," brave "dream chasers," and action-oriented "doers".
Hou Chufang from Engineering Class 2102 of the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies spoke as a student representative. She expressed her gratitude to the sponsoring alumni and the university, and stated that she would use the outstanding alumni as role models, strive to study hard, enhance herself comprehensively, and become an excellent HUTB student.
Alumni including Fan Jianwen (founder of the "Fudi Scholarship"), Wang Shukun (founder of the "Carpoly Scholarship"), Lei Liang (founder of the "Zhifen Scholarship"), and Liu Yanbo (founder of the "Xinye Scholarship") shared their thoughts. They encouraged the students to deeply cultivate their love for the country, aspire to high goals, refine their character, cherish learning opportunities, read extensively and wisely, improve and develop themselves, practice gratitude, pass on kindness, actively give back to society and their alma mater, and become the new generation capable of shouldering the responsibility of national rejuvenation.
In recent years, HUTB has actively responded to the call of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Provincial Government by vigorously advancing the "Alumni Return to Hunan" initiative. They have mobilized alumni and alumni enterprises to return to the university to establish academic innovation funds, alumni scholarships, and other initiatives to support the university’s talent development, discipline construction, and scientific research, thus promoting the strengthening of education in the province and accelerating the modernization of education.
For the year 2024, the university reviewed and awarded a total of six alumni scholarships and grants. These include: the "Nian'en Scholarship", funded with RMB1 million by Zeng Li and his spouse from the 1990 Accounting class; the "Fudi Scholarship", funded with RMB2 million by Fan Jianwen from the 1992 Pricing class (Phase III); the "Carpoly Scholarship", funded with RMB500,000 by Wang Shukun from the 1999 Tourism Management class; the "Xufeng Scholarship", funded with RMB500,000 by Liu Xufeng from the 1999 Accounting class; the "Zhifen Scholarship", funded with RMB880,000 by Lei Liang and his spouse from the 2003 Marketing class; the "Xinye Scholarship", funded with RMB150,000 by Liu Yanbo from the 2003 Telecommunications class. A total of RMB600,000 was distributed, benefiting 150 outstanding and financially disadvantaged students. Since the establishment of the first alumni scholarship and grant in 2009, a total of RMB5.01 million has been distributed, benefiting 1,307 outstanding HUTB students.
