[Integrated Development of Culture and Technology] "Two Bombs and One Satellite" Spirit and Nuclear Industry Spirit Promotion Event Held at HUTB

2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 60th anniversary of the successful detonation of our first atomic bomb, and the upcoming 70th anniversary of the establishment of our nuclear industry. To inspire the enthusiasm of teachers and students for the Party and the country, and to guide student and faculty Party members to draw strength from the spirit of Chinese Communists, on the afternoon of May 21, a commemorative event for the 60th anniversary of the successful detonation of China's first atomic bomb, as well as a promotion of the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" spirit and nuclear industry spirit, was held in the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall of Xiangjiang Building at the university. This promotion event is one of the series activities for the university's "Integrated Development of Culture and Technology" themed education season, conducted via "online livestreaming + offline viewing." Leaders, guests, and representatives from the faculty and students watched the presentation together.

The presentation is divided into two parts: "Eastern Thunder: The Foundation of Nuclear Power" and "Innovative Development: Marching Forward with Triumph." It features various performance forms including skits, scenario-based singing, narrative presentations, poetry recitations, and choral performances. The event uses the timeline of China's nuclear industry development as the main thread, depicting the transition of China's nuclear industry under the strong leadership of the Party from following and catching up to leading the field. It showcases the significant contributions of China's nuclear industry to national security and economic development, presents moving stories of the older generation of nuclear scientists who accomplished extraordinary feats while remaining anonymous, and highlights the innovative and developmental struggle of today's nuclear industry professionals.

In the first part, "Eastern Thunder: The Foundation of Nuclear Power," the actors used brilliant performances to reenact the legendary stories of Deng Jiaxian, Zhu Guangya, Guo Yonghuai, and other "Two Bombs and One Satellite" heroes who dedicated themselves to the nation's nuclear cause without hesitation. These pioneers tackled challenges in remote mountains, canyons, and desert wastelands, integrating their personal values with national development and national progress. The heartfelt shout, "For the motherland, sacrifice is worth it! For the people, dedication is worth it! For the people, striving is worth it!" echoed deeply. The actors, with tears in their eyes, seemed to be engaging in a time-transcending dialogue with the great scientists, stirring strong resonance and empathy among the audience. The scene was filled with waves of enthusiastic applause.

In the second part, "Innovative Development: Marching Forward with Triumph," actors in various work uniforms vividly showcased how the nuclear industry professionals have striven forward in the new era with the spirit of the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" and the nuclear industry spirit of "putting the great cause and responsibility above all, being meticulous in doing everything, and innovation meaning everything." By carrying forward the spirit of "strengthening the nation with nuclear power, innovation, and dedication," they consistently foster innovation and collaboration, courageously shoulder their mission and dedicate their youth. After years of great efforts,they completed many remarkable projects such as the "national pride" Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, the Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant with the "Hualong One" national brand, and the next-generation controllable nuclear fusion research device "China Circulator No.2."

Scenes, songs, and recitations unfolded one after another, telling the stories of ordinary yet great achievements. After the presentation, students expressed that they were deeply immersed in experiencing the outstanding qualities and noble character of nuclear industry professionals. As youth in the new era, they feel inspired to have ideals, take responsibility, endure hardships, and strive diligently. They aim to grow into innovative and high-quality talents with a global perspective, patriotic spirit, professional expertise, and a compassionate heart, contributing their youthful energy to building a science and technology power.
