HUTB Holds Grand "Honoring Youth, Exemplary Power" Commendation Ceremony for Outstanding Students

On the evening of May 10, the university held a grand "Honoring Youth, Exemplary Power" commendation ceremony for outstanding students for 2022-2024 at the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Liu Guoquan, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, Gan Dejian, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, and Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, attended the ceremony. Heads of relevant functional departments, leaders of all secondary schools, faculty and student representatives, as well as award-winning students attended the event.
Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, delivered a speech entitled "Following the Light of Exemplary Figures and Consolidating the Power of Striving" at the ceremony. She pointed out that over the past 75 years since the establishment of HUTB, generations of HUTB youth have carried the aspiration of serving the country, inherited the red gene, shouldered responsibilities through practical actions, and demonstrated their sense of duty. They have continued to strive and never stopped in their mission of serving the country and pursuing excellence.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong's message to the youth of HUTB is as follows. First, lead your life's course with lofty ideals and let youth soar continuously when pursuing dreams. Unify the future of the country, the development of society, and personal ideals, always maintain the ambition of working for the greater good of all, the urgency of seizing the day and cherishing the moment, and the sense of responsibility that others may shy away from, and bravely become trailblazers of the times. Second, consolidate the foundation of personal development with noble character, allowing youth to surge continuously through inheritance. Inherit and develop excellent traditional Chinese culture, promote red culture and spirit, cultivate and create socialist culture with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and constantly enhance our sense of belonging, identity, dignity, and honor towards the Chinese nation. Third, create a splendid life with outstanding skills, allowing youth to constantly elevate through experiences. Break through fixed mindsets through diligent learning, accumulate wisdom in innovative learning, learn to think and understand in practical work, and continuously cultivate the strong skills needed to realize dreams. Fourth, inspire limitless possibilities with integrated innovation, allowing youth to continuously make breakthroughs in exploration. Adapt to the changes brought by new technology with a more proactive and open mindset, adept at integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional culture, and create more innovative achievements that embody the spirit of the times and carry cultural connotations.
The ceremony is divided into five parts: the awarding of the "Excellent and Diligent" HUTB Student Academician Award Fund, the "Moral Integrity Section", the "Erudition Section", the "Dedication Section", and the "Self-improvement Section".
At the "Excellent and Diligent" HUTB Student Academician Award Fund presentation, Secretary Chen Xiaohong presented awards to 50 outstanding students who received the Excellence Award, Inspiration Award, Practice Award, and Moral Integrity Award. She warmly encouraged them. Both teachers and students at the scene watched heartwarming videos sent back by previous award winners, and student representatives expressed sincere gratitude to Academician Chen Xiaohong.
At the "Moral Integrity Section" award presentation, Secretary Chen Xiaohong presented awards to representatives who received the Advanced Student Party Branch, May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branch, National Vitality Youth League Branch, and Excellent Student Party Members. Teachers and students at the scene watched a video of the exemplary deeds of the Information Science Class of 2001, which received the Advanced Collective Award. The vibrant choral performance "Oh, Youth" and the graceful dance "With Me" showcased the spiritual aspirations of contemporary youth in their pursuit of the light of faith and their courageous undertaking of the mission of youth.
At the "Erudition Section" award presentation, Vice President Liu Guoquan presented awards to representatives who received the Annual Outstanding College Student, National Scholarship, and Discipline Competition Awards. Teachers and students at the scene watched a video of the exemplary deeds of outstanding student teams. The skit "Dialogue across Time and Space" and the song "Dislocation of Time and Space" creatively present a dialogue across time and space, contrasting the Revolutionary War era with the era of peaceful development. This guides students to cherish today's achievements, study hard, and contribute to the prosperity and strength of the nation.
At the "Dedication Section" award presentation, Vice President Zhang Ling presented awards to representatives who received awards of the Communist Youth League series and excellent student series. Teachers and students at the scene watched a video of the exemplary deeds of the Physics Class of 2001, which received the Advanced Collective Award. Teachers and students performed a skit "Chasing the Stars", the song "I Love You, China", and a parade performance of the National Flag Guard, presenting a virtual dialogue with the eminent scientist Qian Xuesen, known for his contributions to China's atomic and space programs. This performance evoked a strong sense of patriotism and national strength.
At the "Self-improvement Section" award presentation, Vice President Gan Dejian presented awards to representatives who received the title of "China College Students' Star of Self-improvement", while Deputy Secretary Yi Mianyang awarded representatives who received the National Encouragement Scholarship and sports-related awards. Teachers and students at the scene watched a video showcasing the exemplary deeds of Yin Jiajia, an excellent student from the School of Finance. The university art troupe performed the human-screen interactive dance "Drum Dance to the Flourishing Era", displaying the charm of integrating culture and technology, and fully showcasing the surge of the digital economy era.
The audience erupted with warm applause, offering hearty congratulations to all the award-winning students.
