HUTB Holds Launch Ceremony for 2024 College Student Volunteer Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program”

Youthful vitality and spirit are on display as we embrace our responsibilities and make new achievements. On the morning of July 10, HUTB held the launch ceremony for the 2024 College Student Volunteer Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” in the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall of the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, and Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, attended the ceremony. The event was attended by heads of relevant functional departments, deputy secretaries of the CPC Committees and secretaries of the Youth League Committees from various secondary schools, guiding teachers and team leaders of practice teams, as well as representatives from 193 project teams of the Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program.”
Secretary Chen Xiaohong gave a motivational speech. She emphasized that this year’s Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” is a vivid practice of implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It represented an important step in encouraging students at HUTB to deeply study General Secretary Xi Jinping's messages to the youth and serves as a key example of how young students integrate theory with practice and align their personal ideals with the nation's development goals. This personal experience will enable students to gain a deeper understanding of the rich connotations and practical requirements of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It will enhance their sense of social responsibility, improve their practical skills, strengthen their mental and physical well-being, and help them develop into high-quality individuals with a global perspective, patriotic feelings, professional competence, and a compassionate heart.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong offered three hopes and expectations for all faculty and students participating in the Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program”: First, uphold your ideals and forge your will, elevating your life’s realm through relentless effort. Remember General Secretary Xi Jinping's guidance, stay committed to the grand journey ahead, courageously confront the era's challenges, and solidify your ideals and beliefs through practice. Root yourself deeply and grow upward, living up to both the times and your youthful years, and strive to become a new generation capable of shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation. Second, engage in earnest and practical work, and immerse yourself in deep study and reflection, bravely shouldering the era’s responsibilities through social practice. Advance on the path of challenges, stand tall in your actions, sharpen your will, and enhance your capabilities. Distill your profound insights into social phenomena, sincere reflections on real life, and detailed summaries of research into constructive proposals and action plans for driving progress. Third, focus on results and condense features to enhance HUTB’s reputation in serving society. Combine broad publicity with comprehensive summarization, aiming to inspire thought through effective approaches. Continuously summarize and preserve unique aspects in practice, focus on developing a brand for practical activities, and promptly report on progress, share vivid scenes, and publicize valuable experiences to enhance influence, appeal, and outreach.
At the ceremony, all teachers and students watched a review and summary video of the university's Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” from the past three years and heard an introduction to the basic details of the 2024 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program.” As a student representative, Xu Zizheng from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies spoke, pledging to be earnest and passionate, think critically and ask questions, and foster a spirit of teamwork, while demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of HUTB students. Xia Yinxi from the School of Digital Media Engineering and Humanities led all students in a solemn pledge to embody the excellence, diligence, and civility of HUTB students, strive to achieve the university's "Three Advances and Three Highs" strategic goals, and actively contribute to writing a youth chapter of commitment to Chinese-style modernization.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong presented the flag to the student representatives of the Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” social practice team, wishing them a successful outcome for their activities. She also announced the official launch of HUTB’s 2024 College Student Volunteer Summer "Sanxiaxiang Program." The entire audience of faculty and students sang the university anthem together with passion and resonance, while red flags waved and the call to action was officially sounded.
After the ceremony, Secretary Chen Xiaohong visited and encouraged the team about to head to their practice sites. She urged them to uphold the university’s proud traditions, strengthen their will and enhance their abilities through practice, and use their vibrant youthful energy and wisdom to contribute to society and the people, crafting a magnificent and regret-free chapter of their youth.
It is reported that this summer, our university has launched a total of 193 university-level and school-level social practice projects under the Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” (including the "Furong Students·Rural Revitalization" project teams and the "Yangfan Plan" internship student teams). A total of 193 practice teams, comprising over 2,000 teachers and students, will work closely with grassroots communities. Through serving the public, they will experience the warmth of society and, in the name of youth, integrate patriotism, aspirations for national strength, and dedication to the country into the pursuit of dreams in the new era.
