Li Zhichao, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and His Team Visit HUTB for Research

On September 20, Li Zhichao, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (Hunan Provincial Committee), and his team visited HUTB for research. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, met with Secretary Li Zhichao and his team. Gan Dejian, member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, along with Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, accompanied the research visit. Following this, a symposium was held in the Zhiyuan Lecture Hall of Xiangjiang Building. Relevant department heads from both sides also attended the meeting.
Academician Chen Xiaohong warmly welcomed Secretary Li Zhichao and his team, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the Hunan Provincial Committee's long-term care and support for the development of the Communist Youth League at our university. She focused on introducing the university’s reform measures and achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education. In recent years, the university has promoted a "dual optimization" of disciplines and majors, establishing a number of new programs, micro-majors, and excellence classes characterized by interdisciplinary integration. This has created a distinct educational feature, with employment rates ranking among the top in provincial universities, providing students with a higher-quality platform and more effective support and guarantee for their innovation and entrepreneurship endeavors. She pointed out that under the guidance of the Hunan Provincial Committee and the leadership of the CPC HUTB Committee, the HUTB Committee of the CYLC has made continuous breakthroughs in its work. In 2023, it was awarded the National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee, and in 2024, its Party branch was selected as a national model Party branch for Party building work. The university places great importance on innovation and entrepreneurship among college students. In the "Challenge Cup" series of competitions, it received the special prize and the "Progressive Innovation Special Award," the only awards of their kind in the province that year. Additionally, it selected outstanding students for the "Excellence and Diligence" scholarship fund for HUTB students. The university hopes that the Hunan Provincial Committee will provide more guidance to further elevate the work of the HUTB Communist Youth League and the Student Union.
Secretary Li Zhichao highly praised the outstanding educational achievements of the university under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiaohong, as well as the effectiveness of the HUTB Communist Youth League's work. He pointed out that the Hunan Provincial Committee places great importance on innovation and entrepreneurship among college students. It aims to provide platforms, stages, mechanisms, and pathways for youth development, and is exploring the establishment of a sound "error-tolerance" mechanism to strongly promote high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship among young people. He expressed four hopes for the HUTB Communist Youth League's work: First, to fully utilize the role of ideological and political guidance in building a comprehensive "ideological and political" educational framework. Second, to take the lead in fostering research-oriented talents and guide young League members to grow into exemplary youth of the new era. Third, to set an example in promoting college students' innovation and entrepreneurship by providing high-quality platforms for their innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. Fourth, to study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC National Congress, further deepen internal reforms, strengthen the self-development of the HUTB Committee of the CYLC, Student Union, and student organizations, and enhance service quality. He stated that the Hunan Provincial Committee will continue to support the development of the university and fully leverage the unique educational role of the Communist Youth League to serve the growth and success of young students.
Before the meeting, Secretary Li Zhichao and his team visited the exhibition hall of research achievements at the Xiangjiang Laboratory, the National Center for Basic Science in the Technology Building, the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creation Park, Chufeng Academy, Qiushi Academy, and the Sports Center. They highly praised the development achievements of HUTB and the construction results of the Xiangjiang Laboratory.
