HUTB Holds "Music in HUTB" Outdoor Concert

Music thrives in HUTB, tides rise on Xiang River. On the afternoon of May 9, the university held the "Music in HUTB" outdoor concert at the plaza in front of Xiangjiang Building, blending music with vibrant campus energy. Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, along with Yang Liangqi and Zhao Hua, members of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice Presidents, joined faculty and students in enjoying this vibrant concert brimming with youthful energy and artistic flair.

This concert is jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee, the HUTB Committee of the CYLC, and the School of Music. The concert featured performances by employee representatives from Xiangjiang Laboratory, young faculty members from the School of Music, and delegation groups from the "Culture + Technology" Integrated Development Alliance. The event was hosted by Teacher Li Cheng from the School of Music.

The event opened with a stunning rendition of the classic folk ensemble piece "Dance of the Golden Snake," where the guzheng, sheng, erhu, and bamboo flute performed in perfect harmony, their impassioned melodies instantly igniting the atmosphere.


The program continued with captivating performances. "Sakura" showcased youthful vitality through agile choreography. Teacher Yang Zheleng’s heartfelt rendition of "Unforgettable Love" moved the audience with its tender vocals and emotional sincerity. The concert soared as Teacher Zhai Xiangyu and colleagues delivered a rousing rendition of "I Believe", their clarion voices and uplifting melodies electrifying the crowd. Teachers Xia Tian and Zhou Hao then moved the audience with their soul-stirring performance of "Tears in the Sand", its distinctive style and profound emotion resonating deeply. Teacher Gao Ming and fellow performers unleashed the raw emotional power of "Wild Child", leaving an indelible impact on every listener.


The nostalgic strains of "Looking Back Again" filled the air as performer Teacher Li Cheng invited Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, to join the stage—prompting a heartfelt chorus from faculty and students, their voices weaving a tapestry of shared memories. Dr. Yuan Yige’s soulful rendition of "Suzhou River"—with its serene and graceful melodies—transported listeners to the riverbanks of Suzhou. Then, the tender and soothing vocals of "Encounter" by the Light-Chasing Ensemble immersed faculty and students in a moment of musical solace.

Following the event, Academician Chen Xiaohong met with the performers and crew, commending the concert’s artistic excellence. She encouraged young faculty at the School of Music to cultivate both moral integrity and professional mastery—excelling equally on stage and in research—to deliver more outstanding performances and nurture the next generation of musical talent.
The concert concluded triumphantly amidst an atmosphere brimming with warmth and joy, leaving an indelible artistic imprint on all participants. Amidst the picturesque campus, faculty and student performers built bridges through enchanting melodies, heartfelt vocals, and exuberant dance—enriching the university's spiritual and cultural life while adding a brilliant stroke to the integration of "Culture + Technology" and the development of an "Artistic HUBT."
