2025-06-14
On the afternoon of June 12, the university held the 2025 Alumni Scholarship Awarding Ceremony at the Yingcai Lecture Hall of the Library. Gan Dejian, member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, attended the ceremony. Heads of the Student Affairs Division, Alumni Office, representatives of alumni scholarship founders, deputy secretaries of the CPC Committees of various secondary schools, representatives of instructors, and scholarship recipients were present. The ceremony was hosted by Zhang Hong, Director of the Alumni Office.

At the ceremony, Vice President Gan Dejian and representatives of the awarding alumni presented certificates to the scholarship recipients. Director Zhang Hong from the Alumni Office introduced the setup of the alumni scholarships. Li Jilin, Director of the Student Affairs Division, read the Notice on the Evaluation Results of the 2025 Alumni Scholarships.
Vice President Gan Dejian, on behalf of the university, expressed profound respect and sincere gratitude for the alumni's generosity and dedication. He shared three aspirations for the scholarship recipients: First, to cultivate patriotic ambitions, embrace national priorities, and become "successors" who shoulder weighty responsibilities; second, to pursue a path of relentless progress, master exceptional skills, and become "pragmatists" who let actions speak louder than words; and third, to pass on the alumni spirit with a "mentor’s heart", becoming "torchbearers" who are both warm and impactful.
Student representatives Liu Shuaiqi, a 2023 Master's candidate in Integrated Circuit Engineering at the School of Microelectronics and Physics, and He Jiajun, a 2022 undergraduate from the Academician Excellence Class in Digital Economy at the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, delivered speeches. They expressed gratitude to the sponsoring alumni and the university, pledging to emulate outstanding graduates by committing to relentless struggle/endeavor, carrying gratitude in their hearts, and passing forward love and responsibility.
Alumni representatives who established the scholarships—Fan Jianwen, Zhou Yinfang, Xie Lijun, Xiao Jie, and Liu Zhiqiang—engaged with the award recipients. They encouraged students to deepen their patriotic dedication, temper resilient character, accumulate strength through diligent study, and spark wisdom through reflection; to master formidable skills, carry gratitude in their hearts, and use their genuine talents to give back to their alma mater and society, contributing the power of youth to national development and social progress.
In recent years, HUTB has actively responded to the call of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Government of Hunan Province by vigorously advancing the "Alumni Return to Hunan" initiative. It has guided alumni and alumni-founded enterprises to establish scholarships, academic innovation funds, and other programs on campus, supporting talent development, disciplinary advancement, and scientific research—propelling the construction of an education-powered province and accelerating the realization of provincial education modernization.
In 2025, the university awarded 10 alumni-funded scholarships and grants, including: the "Nian'en Scholarship" (RMB1 million) donated by accounting alumni Zhou Yinfang and Zeng Li (1991 graduates); the third phase of the "Fudi Scholarship" (RMB2 million) by pricing alumnus Fan Jianwen (1992 graduate); the "Hongmo Student Scholarship" (RMB500,000) by business management alumnus Xie Lijun (1997 graduate); the "Carpoly Grant" (RMB500,000) by tourism alumnus Wang Shukun (1999 graduate); the "Xufeng Scholarship" (RMB500,000) by accounting alumnus Liu Xufeng (1999 graduate); the "Jiahao Scholarship" (RMB1 million) by marketing alumnus Jiang Jiahao (2001 graduate); the "Ying Grant" (RMB1 million) by tourism alumnus Xiao Jie (2003 graduate); the "Zhifen Scholarship" (RMB880,000) by marketing alumni couple Lei Liang and spouse (2003 graduates); the "Yuntang Scholarship" (RMB500,000) by telecommunications alumna Chen Wenjun (2003 graduate); and the "Yanbo Philanthropy Award" established by Chen Yanbo (IC Engineering Class of 2023). Totaling RMB955,000, these funds supported 219 students—a historic high. Since the establishment of the first alumni scholarship and grant in 2009, a total of RMB5.965 million has been distributed, benefiting 1526 students.
