HUTB Holds 2025 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony

HUTB talents shoulder the mission, youth warriors embark on the expedition. On the morning of June 20, HUTB held its 2025 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony. Chief leaders including Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB; Liu Guoquan, Director of the HUTB Academic Committee and Executive Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, along with other all university leaders, and members of the CPC HUTB Committee, attended the ceremony.
Mr. Fan Jianwen, a 1992 alumnus of the University's Price Economics program and now serves as Chairman of Guangdong Fudi Supply Chain Co., Ltd., was invited to attend. Also present were all members of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, heads of relevant functional departments, leaders of the CPC Committee Offices and Principal Offices of secondary schools, deputy secretaries of the CPC HUTB Committee, faculty representatives, as well as graduating class tutors, instructors, and class advisors. The event was also shared with all the 2025 graduates, alongside parent representatives, faculty, current students and alumni, who all gathered to witness the graduates mark their successful completion of studies and embark on their new journey in life. The ceremony was hosted by President Liao Xiangyue. The graduation ceremony was held across six venues.
During the flag-raising ceremony, Everyone stood in solemn silence, offering their respectful gaze as the national anthem played and sung, watching the bright five-star red flag rise slowly.
Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, delivered an impassioned speech titled "Embarking on Life's Expedition with the Stance of Warrior." She pointed out that over the years, students have thrived in the nurturing environment of HUTB, gradually completing the refinement of knowledge, the maturation of thinking, and the sublimation of character, becoming more compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and thoughtful individuals. A large number of outstanding students have achieved excellent results in fields such as scientific research, academic competitions, innovation and entrepreneurship, volunteer services, and social practice. In the mutual dedication and collaborative journey between everyone and the university, the answer to "What makes HUTB" has become clearly visible: Over the past decade, the university has fully achieved its "Three-upgrade Strategy" goals, made significant progress in interdisciplinary integration and collaboration, seen high-energy platforms like the Xiangjiang Laboratory take the lead in technological innovation, established a nationally recognized brand in innovation and entrepreneurship education, repeatedly reached historic highs in the quantity and level of awards in various national competitions, witnessed exponential growth in technological invention patents and achievement transformation, experienced rapid changes in the campus landscape, and achieved graduate employment rates ranking among the top in the province, among other accomplishments.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed her hope that all members of the Class of 2025 would keep in mind the exhortations of General Secretary Xi Jinping: "Ignite the youthful passion of 'strengthening the nation with me,' and courageously serve as the vanguard and shock force in the great endeavor of building a strong nation and rejuvenating the Chinese people." She urged them to grow into indomitable warriors, becoming the very certainty in an uncertain world, mastering their own destinies while embracing change, and continuing to grow consistently.
First, cherish the sentiment for home and country, hold high the torch of strengthening the nation, and become warriors who serve the nation and the people. One must carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance, uphold the sincerity of "leaving a loyal heart shining in the pages of history," demonstrate the resilience of "remaining strong despite countless trials," and embrace the responsibility of "daring to change the old order for a new world." Always bear in mind the "greatest priorities of the nation," and integrate personal ideals into the grand cause of the country. To love one's home and country, one must lead their family toward happiness; to love one's home and country, one must strive to transform their hometown; to love one's home and country, one must reflect a more brilliant China through their struggles.
Second, accumulate the power of integration, strengthen the capacity for autonomy, and become sharp and clear-minded warriors. One must insist on making innovation as natural as breathing, not just a tool. In areas of cross-integration such as "AI+" and "+AI," break down the walls of conventional thinking, transform technological pain points into levers for changing the world, and become trendsetters who "know how to use AI" and helmsmen who "master AI." While harnessing the power of technology, one must also safeguard the human "home ground."
Third, ignite the fire of passion, wield the sword of perseverance, and become resilient and accomplished warriors. Take diligence as your motto, never bow to adversity, write the chapter of youth with perseverance, and safeguard career development with health. A person's true talent lies in the awakening of the soul, the sublimation of thought, and the independence of character. The greatest benefactor in life is none other than oneself—someone who harbors passion, strives upward, and runs tirelessly. Ultimately, through resilience and accomplishment, you will live as a shining version of yourself.
The graduation ceremony was presided over by Professor Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB.

Professor Mo Xiangyi, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, read out the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business Decision on Granting Graduation to 4,299 Students including Sun Jia, the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business Decision on Conferring Bachelor's Degrees to 4,299 Students including Sun Jia, the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business Decision on Granting Graduation to OKORO IFEANYI SMILE, and the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business Decision on Conferring a Bachelor's Degree to OKORO IFEANYI SMILE.
Professor Gan Dejian, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, announced the Notice on Recognizing Outstanding Graduates and Outstanding Graduates in Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the 2025 Graduating Class in Hunan Province.
Professor Li Jianfei, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Business Administration (MBA School), delivered a speech as a representative of the faculty. He expressed hope that all graduates would forge ahead with the warm encouragement of Academician Chen Xiaohong, taking "passion" as their eternal beacon, advancing boldly toward "mountains and seas," and riding the winds and waves with "determined pursuit." In their future work, they should strive to give back to their alma mater and contribute to society, allowing the world to witness the radiant light of HUTB individuals.
Mr. Fan Jianwen, a 1992 alumnus of our university's Price Economics program and Chairman of Guangdong Fudi Supply Chain Co., Ltd., delivered a speech as a representative of the alumni. On behalf of all alumni, he extended warm congratulations to the Class of 2025 for embarking on a new journey in life and elaborated on the outstanding achievements made by the alma mater over the past decade. He shared four life lessons with the younger students: maintain optimism and perseverance, live in the present, persist in learning, and keep exercising. He expressed hope that everyone would keep in mind the spirit of the university motto, integrate into alumni associations worldwide to collaborate on ventures, and contribute to the construction and development of their alma mater.
Tang Hongkai, a graduate student from the School of Intelligent Engineering and Manufacturing; Tang Ailin, an undergraduate student from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies; He Zhou, an undergraduate student from the School of Computer Science; and He Yi, an undergraduate student from the School of Public Administration and Human Geography, delivered speeches as representatives of the graduating class. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to their alma mater and teachers for their careful cultivation, shared their gains and insights from their academic journey, and pledged to dedicate their knowledge to the motherland and serve society. They vowed to align their personal ideals with the great cause of national rejuvenation and strengthening the country.
Following this, degree conferral ceremonies were held simultaneously across all venues. The deans of each secondary school individually moved the tassels, adjusted the caps, presented certificates, and took photos with the graduates. Moving the tassel and adjusting the cap symbolize the graduate's transformation from a learner to a builder. Presenting the certificate is a recognition of the graduate's academic achievements and personal growth, while the group photo captures the blessings and expectations between teachers and students. The entire process was solemn and filled with a sense of ceremony.
Led by Yang Chunxu, an undergraduate from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing, all graduates infused their deep affection for their alma mater, teachers, and friends into the pledge: "Let excellence, diligence, and civility become habits, and achieve the best results of contemporary youth on the track of youth!"
Finally, Academician Chen Xiaohong was invited to join the faculty and students in singing The Human World, using her deeply emotional voice to inspire graduates to grow like seeds toward the sun, fearlessly pursuing their dreams.
As the rousing melody of the Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business School and the majestic music of A Toast to the Motherland resounded, all faculty and students sang with love and pride for the university and the country. A giant school flag slowly floated over the heads of the graduates, and everyone collectively held it aloft, expressing their belief and responsibility in inheriting and promoting the spirit of the school motto. With this, the ceremony concluded successfully in an atmosphere filled with warmth and heartfelt emotion. All graduates lingered reluctantly as the song Hello, Tomorrow played.
Before the ceremony began, a compilation of the university's graduation season music videos was played on-site. The Xiangjiang Symphony Orchestra performed Pomp and Circumstance Marches with great enthusiasm, while graduating class advisors sang Wishing You a Smooth Journey with deep emotion, warmly wishing the Class of 2025 a bright future and a path filled with blossoms. Students from the School of Music presented a suite of graduation season songs, using their passionate voices to express their attachment to the alma mater and their aspirations for the future.
The entire Class of 2025, bearing the earnest exhortations of their alma mater in mind, courageously embarked on a new journey. They will carry forward the courage for innovation, the pioneering spirit, and the vibrant energy instilled by their alma mater, consistently deepening their roots while striving for continuous growth. They will actively engage in innovation and entrepreneurship, radiating the brilliance of youth in the advancement of national construction and the great cause of national rejuvenation.
