Topic: “Dragon” into the Sea

Introduction of the Lecturer: Fu Wentao, born in 1982, was one of the aquanauts selected publicly and trained in China for the first time. He is also an aquanaut on the ship “Dragon” of the National Bureau of Oceanography. Mr. Fu, the winner of the “Manned Diving Heroes”, is a representative of the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the winner of the Sixteenth China Youth May 4th  Medal for Chinese Youth and the Fifteenth Shandong youth May 4th Medal. Mr. Fu Wentao was elected to be the representative and participated in the 18th Communist Party of China, and studied the report of 18th CPC in 2012.

On November 18th, 2012, being the youngest representative of the Communist Party of the central state organs, Fu Wentao was the only aquanaut who was given the honor to participate in the meeting. He and Ye Cong, the two aquanauts on the “Jiaolong” manned submersible won the 16th Chinese Youth May 4th Medal and was invited to attend the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China on May 4th, 2012.

As one of the first aquanauts, Fu Wentao successively participated in all the sea trials tasks of the 1000 meters, 3000 meters, 5000 meters, 7000 meters. The accumulated depth he dived is 37,106 meters. What he has done created and broke many records, such as the record of the main driving time underwater, Continuous operation time, diving depth, the obtained samples of manganese nodules and biological samples, and so on. Mr. Fu inserted the Five-Star Red Flag in the deepest waters in our country twice and he has made remarkable feats For China’s manned deep diving career.

On May 17th, 2013, Fu Wentao got the title of “Manned Deep-Sea Hero” awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the State Council, and at the same time, the Sea trials team of 7000- meter Level which he worked with on the “Jiaolong” manned submersible won the title of “Manned Diving Hero Group” awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the State Council.

Fu Wentao was elected to be “The Top Ten Beautiful Young Worker” in the national poll of “Looking for the Beautiful Young Workers“ organized by the Communist Youth League in 2013.
