Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out emphatically in “2014 International Conference on Engineering Science and Technology” in June, that engineering science and technology was the important force to change the world, and developing science and technology is human beings’ strategic choice to respond to the global challenge and to realize the sustainable development. The modern projects involve not only important science and technology problems and also the organizational, social and economic problems. Therefore, it is urgent to deeply integrate engineering science and technology and modern management science. President Xi also stated that Chinese economic construction and the Social development mode would still be embodied in the material engineering construction and its implementation. As important strategic material, those major basic construction projects and major science and technology projects have made China to become a major country in the construction of the world. Every year, more than half of the GDP comes from the basic construction projects, which is unique in the world. It is the projects that have changed China and the outlooks of the world on China. The major projects are of great strategic significance for stimulating domestic demands, increasing employments, serving people’s livelihood, promoting coordinated development of the economy and society, implementing the national medium and long term science and technology planning and development outline, and speeding up into the ranks of innovative countries.

At the same time, there is still much room for such aspects as the field of management of major complex projects, especially the scientific decisions in major projects, the ability to analyze the complexity and control the major projects, and the management of the innovation of major projects and the realization of sustainable development level. In the recent years, there were many projects accidents in our country, which led to the loss of people’s lives and possessions, and also exerted negative influence on the society. All these accidents suggest that there are still systematic problems which urgently resolving in the aspects of scientific concepts, key technologies and management method.

On the other hand, many international research institutes attach great importance to major projects management, such as Lean Construction Institute of the United States, Design-Build Institute of America of the United States, Association for Project Management of the Great Britain. These institutes contribute themselves to the management innovation of the major projects, which include analysis of the complexity, decision management, emergency management and material management.

Therefore, as for implementing scientific progress concept, promoting the science progress of our country, the innovation of the projects management, securing the excellent and fast construction of the major projects, it is significant to systematically conduct researches on the epistemology of the major complex projects and knowledge system of project management, the management modes and the decision-making mechanism of the major complex projects, and the whole life cycle sustainable development of the major complex projects.

It is with this background that the Project Management Department at Chinese Academy of Engineering launched the first Engineering Management International Summit Forum with the theme of “Major and Complex  Engineering  Management and the Engineering Management Body of Knowledge”, which is followed by  the annual “China Engineering Management Forum 2015”.

“China Engineering Management Forum 2015”will be the ninth one after the first eight successful forums since 2007. Its theme is “The Green Urban Construction and Pollution Prevention /Control”. The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China attached great importance to ecological civilization construction and formed the general layout of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics was shaped, which included the economic construction, political construction, cultural construction, social construction and ecological civilization construction, which embodied the basic requirements of the scientific outlook on development which is to realize comprehensive, balanced and sustainable development, and is of great significance to the civilized development road of expanding continuously  the production development, good rich life and ecology, and comprehensively promote the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Therefore, the Green development concept emphasized in this forum is the requirement of the development of the modern society and the inevitable choice of the development of the modern city. Its success will provide a very good communication platform for the exchanging the practical experience of the construction concept of the green city and Pollution prevention and control, and it will influence positively the improving the environment of the city and the promoting the continuous development of the city.

“The first Engineering Management International Summit Forum of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and China Engineering Management Forum 2015” sincerely invites the experts and scholars of academia, industry and all walks of life both at home and abroad to attend and to conduct academic research and discussion which is interdisciplinary, across industry and across region. The academic research and discussion will be concerned about the management of major complex projects, the theory system of China project management, the engineering management which is related to construction and pollution prevention of Green city in order to make new contributions to realization of the sustainable development of our social economy.

VI. Calls for Papers and Registration Procedures

1. The manuscript requirements

All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not submitted concurrently for publication elsewhere and their contents should be related to the forum themes. All submissions must not be longer than 6,000 words. Authors can to prepare their papers in strict accordance with the correct format of academic papers. Please prepare your paper in Office Word according to the instructions.

2. Paper Submission

Paper submission via Email: cemf2015@126.com before the given deadline of March 12th，2015. Please be sure to attach a detailed contact address, telephone number and email address. All accepted papers will be edited and considered for publication and the excellent papers will be recommended to the authoritative magazines.

3. Conference Registration

Please fill out the application form (The format is as follows) via Email: cemf2015@126.com before April 1st, 2015. Formal invitation will be sent according to the quality of the papers to the authors who will be the formal participant. .

4. Foreign authors’ deadline and registration should be one month in advance, for the sake of handling the visa.
