Introduction of the speaker: He is the academician and professor of Chinese Academy of Engineering, honorary doctor of Loughborough University, and president of Institute of Public Safety, Tsinghua University. He is the convener of the “Safety Science and Engineering” first-level discipline appraisal group of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, “Safety Engineering” professional degree education cooperative group leader, the member of emergency management expert of the State Council, the member of Expert Committee of National Commission for Disaster Reduction, the director of National Standardization Committee on Public Safety Foundation Technology, and the “unconventional emergency management research” guiding expert group leader of major research project of National Natural Science Foundation of China. He also is the president of China Association for Public Safety Science and Technology, the vice-chairman of China Association of Emergency Management, the vice-chairman of China Association of Safety Production, and the chairman of the Asia-Pacific Association for Public Safety Science and Technology. He ever gave a lecture at the national emergency management working conference of the State Council and gave the special lecture at the collective learning conference of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC. Obtained: 1 first prize and 2 second prizes of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award; 1 first prize and 1 second prize of State-level Teaching Achievement Award; National May 1 Labor Medal and the first Lifetime Contribution Award of Asia-Oceania Association for Fire Science and Technology in 2012. Main research fields: Dynamical evolution of public safety, risk assessment, monitoring and controlling, forecasting and early warning and emergency management theory, technology and comprehensive integration; Fire dynamics and prevention and control technology.
