Introduction of the speaker: Gene C Lai, the distinguished professor of safeco, is the chairman of the American Society of Risk Management and Insurance, the famous expert in the field of international risk management and insurance, and the director of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance & Operation Management of College of Business of Washington State University. He obtained the bachelor’s degree in economics of National Chengchi University Taiwan) in 1975, the master’s degree in decision science of Georgia State University in 1981 and the doctor’s degree in risk management and insurance and finance of University of Texas - Austin in 1987. He published many papers in many famous journals such as Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Insurance Issues, The Geneva Risk and Insurance Review, Risk Management and Insurance Review, The journal of Chinese Academy of Social Science, etc. Meanwhile, Professor Lai ever served as the visiting professor of National Chengchi University, Feng Chia University (Taiwan), Peking University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, National Economics University in Vietnam, and University of Cologne in Germany, and served as the honorary president of the Insurance School of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. He enjoyed extremely high popularity in the field of risk management and insurance at home and abroad.
