Speaker’s profile:
Li Guoying, who currently serves as professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Chinese Language and Literature of Beijing Normal University, the expert benefiting from the special allowance of the State Council, and the dean of the College of Chinese Language and Literature at Qinghai Normal University. He also served as vice chairman of the academic degree evaluation committee of Beijing Normal University, academic leader of the cross-century excellent discipline in Beijing, director of the Academic Committee of the National Language Textbook Base, and currently serves as executive director of the Chinese Character Society, director of the Chinese Language Society, and editor-in-chief of Li Yun Academie Journal (Language Volume). He is mainly engaged in the study of Chinese characters and exegesis, and is the chief expert of the national key research project "Regular Script Sorting of Engraving Books" of "Chinese Characters Bank" and the Host of "Study of Chinese, Chinese Characters and Folk Customs from the Cross-cultural Perspective", a key project of the 13th Five-Year Plan period of the Key Research Base of Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. He has published more than 20 academic papers in important domestic and foreign academic journals such as Social Sciences in China, Applied Linguistics, Language Planning, Research In Ancient Chinese Language, Journal of Beijing Normal University, The Opening, and Oriental Culture. He has published a number of works, such as the Study of Semantic Symbol System of Xiaozhuan, Chinese Philology, and Four Studies on Shuo Wen Jie Zi. The honor he acquired included the second prize for national teaching achievements, the first prize for teaching achievements in ordinary colleges and universities in Beijing, and the second prize for excellent achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Beijing.
