o Jiewei) Recently, HUTB dispatched the summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” volunteers to Zhuobi Primary School in Longxipu Town, Xinshao County, to conduct theory explanation and volunteering teaching activities. In a composition contest organized by the volunteers, Wu Jiayun, a fifth grade, wrote: “Reading in the ‘Academician Library’ sponsored by Aunt Chen Xiaohong is the happiest thing for me every day. She is like a beacon that lights up my way!”
The “Academician Library” mentioned above is a library with a collection of more than 3000 books donated to Zhuobi Primary School by Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary of HUTB and CAE Academician, in 2020. She wishes the mountainous children to develop a habit of “loving reading, reading good books”. She also hopes all the local children to gain a deep understanding of the outside world through books.
In addition to giving guidance to the children in summer vacation homework, the HUTB summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” volunteers led them to open the “calm mind with books, sniff scholarly fragrance” class. The volunteer teachers encouraged the children to share books, read more books, make friends with books, and foster a beautiful soul.
Peng Weiwei, a junior middle school student, spent every vacation in reading books in the Academician Library of Zhuobi Primary School. For her, reading is an important way to enlighten wisdom and understand the world. She said: “Although I have graduated from Zhuobi Primary School, I still like reading books here.” A good reading habit not only adds joy to her study and life, but also enriches her inner world.
Peng Lei, Principal of Zhuobi Primary School, said: “Scholarly fragrance nourishes heart, and scholarly language enriches life. Since its establishment, the library has inspired the children’s interest in reading. Numerous students want to come here for books. Therefore, we keep the library open all day, so as to meet the children’s reading needs. The library registers an attendance of more than 60 students every day.”
Academician Chen Xiaohong said: “Talent training is key to rural revitalization. The purpose of education assistance is to enhance people’s beliefs and hopes. We must place education assistance in the prominent position, give full play to the advantages of our educational resources, and make new contributions in the summer ‘Sanxiaxiang Program’ volunteer service and rural revitalization.”
