HUTB Holds 27th English Speech Contest

On the afternoon of June 8, 27th English Speech Contest of HUTB was held in F201 Lecture Hall, Lezhi Building. The competition was jointly sponsored by the Academic Affairs Division, Student Affairs Division and School of Foreign Languages. 20 outstanding contestants from various majors of HUTB took part in the competition.

The competition consists of "prepared speech" and "impromptu speech". The prepared speech is themed by "Red Star Over China". The contestants perfectly explained their views with full spirit and fluent spoken English. The impromptu speech fully demonstrated the students' strong language application and on-the-spot adaptability, winning applause from the audience and the atmosphere was very lively.

After the fierce competition, Lu Yilin and Cao Peng were awarded the first prize in the professional group, while Zhou Jingchao, Kuang Yongyi and Zou Jingyi won the first prize in the non-professional group; Liu Xiyi and Li Jiaxuan won the second prize in the professional group, while Dong Zixia, Xu Jiaying, Li Jiahui and Yang Yuxuan won the second prize in the non-professional group; Xiao Tingdong and Zhang Yizhi won the third prize in the professional group, while Yu Xiaowei, Xu Ruoyin, Zhai Qi and Qin Ziyi won the third prize in the non-professional group.

In this competition, the contestants sincerely expressed their love for the motherland and their determination to serve the motherland and realize the Chinese dream. The competition organically integrated language skills with ideological and political elements, expanded the connotation of educating people in the second foreign language classroom, cultivated the patriotism, and achieved the good effect of fostering virtue through education.
