["HUTB of Humanity" Forum of Lushan Lecture] Famous Writer Han Shaogong Gives Lecture in HUTB

On the afternoon of May 30, the famous writer Han Shaogong was invited to give the third lecture of the "HUTB of Humanity" Forum of Lushan Lecture and participate in the reading season of "Reading Classics and Understanding Philosophy" in HUTB, bringing teachers and students an ideological feast themed by "Reading the Literary Classics". The lecture was held in Yingcai Lecture Hall, presided over by Vice President Yang Liangqi, and attended by the representatives of teachers and students.
Starting from his own creation experience, Han Shaogong talked about "what is a classic", "how to create a classic work" and "how to read the classic literature". He believes that the canonization of literary works comes from the hedging of construction and elimination and results from the repeated games between "addition" and "subtraction". It is time that will eventually precipitate the classics. He believes that we shall distinguish the "staple food" and "snack" for intaking the information, and shall not be blinded by the impetuous atmosphere in today's information age; we shall make the best of the limited time and energy to read the cultural classics extensively and absorb the outstanding cultural achievements. He elaborated on the reading methods such as "on-site restoration", "mental docking", "multiple complementarity" and "seeking knowledge by doing" about how to read classics. He said that the best way is to "integrate knowledge with practice", turning the reading process into a process of spiritual enjoyment, a process of solving confusion and a process of self-salvation. During the communication session, he humorously answered the questions raised by students about the choice of literary classics, reading experiences, etc.
Han Shaogong, a native of Changsha, Hunan Province, is currently a member of the Presidium of the Chinese Writers Association, a member of the National Committee and honorary chairman of Hainan Federation of Literary, with the main literary works such as the novella Dad, novel Maqiao Dictionary and Revision Process, long essays Revolutionary Postscript, Shannan Shuibei, etc., and translations such asThe Unbearable Lightness of Beingand The Book of Disquiet. He has won Lu Xun Literature Prize and many French and American literature prizes, and his literary works have been published overseas in more than 40 foreign languages.
