[Innovation Forum of Lushan Lecture] – Zeng Xianlai, Associate Researcher of Tsinghua University, Gives a Lecture in HUTB

On the afternoon of May 13, Zeng Xianlai, associate researcher of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University, was invited to give the first lecture of "Innovation Forum of Lushan Lecture" themed by "Domestic Circulation of Urban Mineral Resources and Policy Enlightenment". The lecture was held in F201, Lezhi Building, presided over by Chen Yan, deputy director of the Scientific Research Administration Division, and attended by the representatives of teachers and graduate students.

 


In combination with the national "double carbon" strategy, the associate researcher Zeng Xianlai has shown the current situation of global economic development and consumption of mineral resources as well as the process of material circulation through the data he has obtained, and proposed to solve environmental problems and resource problems by effectively conducting the circular economy, utilizing the wastes, solving the solid waste, so as to promote the industrial development. He also introduced the topics and meetings related to the domestic circulation of urban mineral resources, and provided suggestions for follow-up study and research.

 

During the lecture, the teachers and students on the scene enthusiastically asked questions, and the associate researcher Zeng Xianlai gave the detailed answers under the interactive atmosphere. The lecture is rich in content and detailed in data, not only broadening the professional vision of teachers and students, but also providing the guidance for teachers and students to further engage in the in-depth scientific research.

 

Zeng Xianlai, the (post)doctor, associate researcher of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University, is mainly engaged in research of resource and environmental sustainability, circular economy and waste management, has published more than 100 papers, treatises and patents in authoritative journals such as Nature Communications, Chinese Scienceand Environmental Science & Technology, and has taken charge of more than 20 national and international cooperation projects; was listed as Fulbright scholars in the United States, top-notch talents of the professional and technical youth for the national ecological environmental protection, and top 2% scientists in the world 2019 evaluated by Stanford University; served as the visiting professor and scholar of Yale University, Macquarie University, Coventry University and Macau University, deputy editor for the sub-issue of Nature, chief technical adviser of UNEP Basel Convention Asia-Pacific Regional Center and technical adviser of UNDP; he is also the deputy director of the regional professional committee of the China Society of Ecological Economics, the secretary-general of the Circular Economy Branch of the China Society of Environmental Sciences, and the expert member of Operations Research Society of China; he has won the Academic Prize of Management Science Award and the First Prize of Environmental Technology Progress Award issued by China management Science Society.
