First Tennis Competition Held by HUTB

The first tennis competition of HUTB was held by the Department of Physical Education and Research on April 13 with a desire to create a new name card for sports of HUTB and build a strong tennis atmosphere on campus.

As the first event of HUTB sports competition in this year, the competition attracted more than 100 students to sign up. After a four-day fierce competition, Zhang Shuhan from the School of Mathematics & Statistics, Wang Yuwei from the School of Finance, Mo Yefeng and Guo Haojie from the School ofEconomy & Trade, Xie Shi and Huang Ying from the School of Law & Public Administration, Liu Xingyu and Chen Zhihang from the School of Accounting respectively won the champions of the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

Tennis education in HUTB has developed rapidly over the past year. HUTB was approved by the Ministry of Education to enroll high-level tennis players in March 2020. In December, HUTB won 6 gold medals and the team championship in the first tennis competition of college students in Hunan Province.

For the purpose to better popularize the tennis among students, the Department of Physical Education and Research, based on the original tennis elective courses and characteristic class of tennis for sophomores, has added tennis lessons to the freshman sports curriculum in this semester, and included Tennis in the sports competition system of HUTB for the first time.
