Ideological and political elective course - Approaching the Revolutionary Figures in Hunanoffered by School of Marxism Studies officially began in Smart Classroom 2305 in the North Campus on the evening of March 3. The course was lectured by Yang Guoli, Curator of the Shaoshan Mao Zedong Memorial Museum and chaired by Nie Zhi, Vice Dean of School of Marxism Studies.

Curator Yang Guoli gave the detailed introduction of the profound influence of reading and learning on Mao Zedong and the deep-seated motivation behind his assiduous study around the theme of "Learn from great people, know the party history and understand the ideas – practice the way of studying and learning of Chairman Mao", with the special concern given to the three dimensions of reading and learning of Chairman Mao such as the characteristics, gains and motivation, combined with the formation process of Mao Zedong Thought and his great achievements. Based on the detailed historical materials, rich and vivid stories, Curator Yang vividly demonstrated the way of reading and learning of Mao Zedong. He encouraged the students of HUTB to learn his reading and learning methods, strive to be "knowledgeable, persistent, thoughtful and practical", and make efforts to live their dreams with a persistent learning attitude and the combination of learning and thinking, and by focusing on integrating theory with practice.

Curator Yang's lecture was rich in connotation and fascinating. After the class, the enthusiastic applause broke out in the classroom.
Approaching the Revolutionary Figures in Hunanis the first ideological and political elective course offered by HUTB with the aim to carry forward the revolutionary tradition, inherit the revolutionary genes, cast souls and educate people in the process of in-depth interpretation of the revolutionary figures, and realize the combination of knowledge transfer, ability training and value guidance. The courses are offered in the form of "one person, one lecture", and show the glorious lives and precious spiritual wealth of Revolutionary Figures in Hunan such as Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Ren Bishi, Peng Dehuai, He Long, Luo Ronghuan, Su Yu, Chen Geng, Xiao Jinguang, Huang Kecheng, etc. To further improve the quality and freshness of courses, School of Marxism Studies has strengthened school-museum cooperation and hired several well-known outside experts and scholars to give lectures at HUTB. In addition to the lectures on Mao Zedong topics given by Yang Guoli, Curator of Shaoshan Mao Zedong Memorial Museum, Li Guifang, Researcher of Liu Shaoqi Memorial Museum, Fu Guofan, Curator of Ren Bishi Memorial Museum, and Chen Yan, Deputy Curator of Peng Dehuai Memorial Museum will share the lives and enlightenments of Liu Shaoqi, Ren Bishi and Peng Dehuai. The outstanding teachers selected by the School of Marxism Studies will give the lectures about other revolutionary figures in Hunan.
