HUTB Holds the Third College Students Campus Speech Contest Themed at “Loving National Defense”

On November 27, HUTB held the finals of the third College Students Campus Speech Contest themed at “Loving National Defense"in Lecture Hall F101 of Lezhi Building. Zeng Jing, Secretary of HUTB Youth League Committee, Yan Xichen, a teacher from the School of Law & Public Administration, and Yang Jintao, a teacher from the School of Accounting served as judges of the finals. Student representatives from all secondary schools and some members of the Military Service Club watched the finals.
With the subject of “Forging ahead in the new era and gather strength for the dream of a powerful military country” and in honor of the 75th anniversaries of the victory of the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese War and the World’s Anti-Fascist War as well as the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ mission to fight against the US and aid Korea, this contest aims to popularize the national defense education in HUTB and motivate HUTB students’ enthusiasm for national defense and army building. After the preliminary contests and semi-finals, 12 teams eventually entered the finals.
During the competition, some veterans talked about their military career and expressed their nostalgia for army life and their thoughts about national defense construction; some contestants talked about the heroic feats of the revolutionary predecessors sacrificing their lives on the battlefield of the Chinese people’s anti-Japanese war or the war to fight against the US and aid Korea; some contestants talked about the Chinese people’s recent battle against COVID-19 as well as the Chinese power and great anti-epidemic spirit demonstrated in this process; some contestants talked about how they learned and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Eraand Xi Jinping thought on strengthening the army, expressing their true feelings about the realization of the Chinese dream and the dream towards a powerful military country. The contestants fully expressed their understanding of national defense. Some spoke excitedly, and some vividly. They all touched the audience on the site and won bursts of warm applause.
After the competition, Secretary Zeng Jing commented on the contestants’ performance and gave guidance from material selection, details, methods and other materials.
After fierce competition, Zhu Xifei won the first prize, Hu Lili and Zou Chenye the second prizes, Kuang Jintong, “Wednesday” group, Chi Yufei, and Jiang Kun the third prizes, and Gu Hongbing, Liu Liefu, Li Huqiang, He Xinmin, and Li Guanfu the winning prizes.
