Professor Hu Yanxiang from School of Law & Public Administration Gives a Special Invited Lecture to Yuelu District Judicial Bureau

On July 1, Yuelu District Judicial Bureau held a training themed at “Interpreting Civil Code with Cases in Daily Life” at the Party School of Yuelu District CommitteeofCPC. Li Mingqing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Yuelu District Judicial Bureau and Director of this Bureau presided over the meeting, and over 100 cadres from the judicial administrative departments of Yuelu District attended the training. Professor Hu Yanxiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of HUTB’s School of Law and Public Administration and Director of the Research Institute of Civil and Commercial Law, gave a special invited lecture on Civil Code.
Professor Hu Yanxiang highly summarized the characteristics and positioning of the Civil Code. She pointed out that the Civil Codeis a major institutional arrangement which responds to the demands of the rule of law and people’s needs for a better life, an important institutional guarantee for advancing the comprehensive law-based governance and the modernization of the national governance system, and an important rule-of-law achievement that demonstrates the Chinese national spirit and social core values. Basing on the idea that “Good laws are a prerequisite for good governance”, she explained the formulation process and historical development of the Civil Codeand pointed out that the promulgation of the Civil Codesignificantly symbolizes the Chinese nation's advancement towards prosperity under the leadership of the CPC. Professor Hu interpreted the main contents of the Civil Codein a simple and profound way, vividly illustrating the generally concerned highlights in all sections with typical cases in daily life. The wonderful and refreshing lecture was warmly received by the audience.
Life is never cold, nor is the Civil Codeknown as the social encyclopedia. Our life is closely related to civil law which protects us as warmly as our mothers. For years, the School of Law & Public Administration has been working towards the mission to cultivate applied senior legal talents. Since the promulgation of the Civil Code, the School has been committed to publicizing the principles and systems of the Civil Codewith the social responsibility of a law department. As an active response to the invitation from the party and government offices, this special lecture given by Professor Hu Yanxiang has made a good social impact.
