The 2nd Lushan Youth Growth Forum: Outlook on Happiness of Marxism

“What is real happiness? How to find our own happiness”. On May 19, Dr. Zhong Jun, the Deputy Director of General Office of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences shared the outlook on happiness of Marxism with students at the 2nd “Lushan Youth Growth Forum”. This forum is an important content of Phase II of 2018 Marxism Youth Training Program and “Youth Learning” action. Zeng Jing, the Deputy Secretary of Youth League Committee of HNUC served as the moderator.
First of all, Dr. Zhong Jun talked about his growth story and shared his understanding of happiness in different stages of life from the following poetic couplet of Yuelu Academy, namely, “Judge words and deeds with conscience; listen to others for your praise or condemnation; follow to fate for gain and loss”. “Is true happiness the fulfillment of our material desire, the stimulation of sensory, the occupation of current resources, or the freedom of individual?”. Dr. Zhong said that “comfortable living is wealthy, peace of mind is honor and both of them are the real happiness.”
Based on his study on Marxism and Chinese traditional culture, Dr. Zhong Jun believed that the nature of happiness is the free and all-round development of people, the happiness of whole life, the unification of materialistic happiness and spiritual happiness, of individual happiness and social happiness, of process happiness and result happiness, as well as the unification of present happiness and long-term happiness. Ultimately, he also interacted with students to solve their bewilderments at learning and life.
The report of Dr. Zhong Jun triggered a burst of applause. All students said that they had clearer and more profound understanding for happiness after the report. The Youth League Committee of Hunan University of Commerce held Lushan Youth Forum with the purpose of transmitting the temperature sound to all students, delivering civilized and progressive energy and offering them a higher field of view, thus, they could meet the higher layout with guiding force.
