Great News! HUTB Project Identified as NSFC Major Program
2020-12-08
Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the review result of NSFC Major Program. Academician Chen Xiaohong-led project “Resilient City Risk Prevention and Control and Management Decision-Making under Intelligent Technology Support”, jointly declared by the Research Institute of Big Data and Internet Innovation of HUTB and the Business School of Central South University (CSU), received financial assistance.
In response to the demand of major national strategy and major scientific breakthrough, the NSFC Major Program is aimed to strengthen top-level design, set science-based target, foster synergy between strengths, conduct interdisciplinary research, training innovative talents and teams, increase the original innovation capacity of our country’s basic research, and provide scientific support for national socio-economic development and security.
In the face of increasingly complex, fluid risk society, traditional city management is far from effectively addressing sudden major risks. This requires people to reconsider the internal logic of city development, accelerate reliance on new-generation intelligent technology, and advance intelligent research on resilient city risk prevention and control and management decision-making. In response to the demand of major national development strategy and the frontier of the discipline and under the theme of “Several Risk Prevention, Control and Management Measures for Resilient City”, the project proposes a resilient city multi-source heterogeneous big data processing method to solve such problems as a lack of “intelligent” application of resilient city, information island and fragmentation, security hazard and time lag in management decision-making. The project constructs a big data-driven resilient city risk assessment and management and control balance system. The project creates a new group intelligent decision-making method and collaborative decision-making mechanism for resilient city risk prevent and control. In this process, the project will strengthen the dynamic monitoring and smart O&M management of urban risks, increase the city risk monitoring, warning and risk prevention and control capacity, and effectively ease or solve existing loopholes in the normal and emergency states of cities.
The research outcome of the project will further deepen the public understanding of the theory of resilient city risk management, and advance the resilient city risk prevention and control research based on intelligent technology. The project will also provide scientific basis for intelligent perception of urban system risks, balance between management and control and intelligent, collaborative decision-making of resilient city system, provide decision-making reference and technical support for the country’s efforts to build resilient cities, and on that basis, contribute to making urban risk management and control more intelligent, making our living environment more inhabitable and modernizing urban governance capacity.
The Research Group of the project, which is composed of students mostly from HUTB and CSU, has long engaged in research in the fields of decision-making method and technology, big data technology, risk assessment, sustainable operation management and service innovation management. They has excellent capacity for basic research.
