President Chen Xiaohong Invited to Act as Chief Expert of China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council (CAETP)

In the morning of October 28, Peng Zheng, an inspector from theDepartment of Commerce of Hunan Province, and other 2 officials paid a visit to HUTB, inviting Chen Xiaohong, HUTB President and CAE Academician, to act as the chief expert of China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council (CAETP)of Hunan Province. President Chen Xiaohong and Vice President Li Dingjun attended the seminarof both sides. Heads of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and Personnel Division were present.
Mr. Peng communicated cordial greetings from the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province to President Chen, introduced the preparations for the to-be-founded CAETP in Hunan and measures which will be taken by Hunan Province to promote China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and sincerely invited President Chen to act as the chief expert of CAETP to draw a centurial blueprint for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. Meanwhile, he announced the decision made by Department of Commerce that HUTB is identified as a standing vice-chairman unit of CAETP.
President Chen expressed her warm welcome to Mr.Peng and other officials, and her sincere congratulations on the approval of establishing China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone by the State Council in Sept this year and the construction of apilot zone for deep economic and trade cooperationbetween China and Africa by Hunan under the Pilot Free Trade Zone. She believed that CAETP is an important measure to implement deep economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa. With the development of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, support from think tanks is required for economics and trade, agriculture, management, etc., and high-end theoretical research and its achievement transformation are urgently needed in the fields of informatization, digital economy, big data, AI, etc. President Chen promised that HUTB would fully exert its discipline, scientific research and talent advantages to support the work of CAETP and actively offer advicesand suggestions to Hunan in conducting China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.
“China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council (CAETP)” is a non-profit social organization established subject to the approval of Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and People’s Government of Hunan Province in order to better grasp historical opportunities, inspire huge potential of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation and improve the international competitiveness of Hunan under the context where Hunan has been approved to conduct deep economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa in the Pilot Free Trade Zone.CAETP is also a market-oriented service platform which is designed to promote China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. CAETP will integrate resources of expert think tanks, and promote overall connection between China and Africa starting from Hunan and radiating across China by virtue of China-Africa economic and trade expos; it is not only a new engine for Hunan Province to further implement the “Belt and RoadInitiative”, exploit the regional advantage of “One Belt and One Junction”, and realize booming development, but also anew mode for deepening China-Africa cooperation in new eras.
