HUTB Holds Seminar with Young Teachers and Greets Senior Professors to Celebrate 36th Teacher's Day

On the morning of September 8, Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB) held a seminar with young teachers at Conference Room 206 in the Technology Building to celebrate the 36thTeacher’s Day, to carry forward the good practice of respecting teachers, and to gather momentum for vigorous development. The seminar was attended by President Chen Xiaohong(an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE)), Vice President Liu Guoquan, Senior Professor Wang Minggao, as well as leaders of the Personnel Division, Academic Affairs Division, Scientific Research Administration Division and over 20 young teachers (doctors). Vice President Liu Guoquan presided over the seminar.
First of all, on behalf of HUTB, President Chen presented the Teacher’s Day gift to Senior Professor Wang Minggao and thankedhim for his hard work and outstanding dedication to HUTB’s development. Professor Wang Minggao expressed his heartfelt gratitude for HUTB’s care and support, saying that he will continue to contribute power to HUTB’s development in the future. He advocated that under President Chen’s leadership, the young teachers should passionately devote themselves to teaching and scientific research to realize their self-esteem and to promote HUTB's newer and greater development.
The young teacher representatives present at the seminar introduced themselves one by one. They talked about their personal experience and feelings about teaching and scientific research, academics and culture, as well as HUTB’s development changes and talent policies, and the like. The representatives freely discussed their responsibilities as university teachers and shared their plans and thoughts for future development. These teachers thanked HUTB for its care and support for young teachers’ professional development, saying that they will live up to expectations and make new contributions to the university with a more vigorous posture and full enthusiasm.
President Chen Xiaohong, on behalf of HUTB, extended Teacher’s Day greetings and blessings to all teachers. She pointed out that young teachers are the outstanding talents HUTB selects for meticulous cultivation and the future stars thatHUTB places great expectationson. President Chen required that young teachers should follow the example of senior professors, Liu Siwei and Wang Minggao, to love the career, the university, and the students and to keep working hard with full devotion and passion; that young teachers should have higher expectations, big ambitions and great vision; that young students should choose their research directions in line with the cutting edge of disciplines, the mainstream of the national economic development, and the major needs in enterprises and regions to serve major national strategies; that young students should take the initiative to write papers through practices and surveys, striving to achieve higher-level results in their own research fields; that young teachers should value teaching and shoulder the sacred mission of teachers; that young teachers should influence students with positive attitudes and good mentalities, moral characters, behaviors, appearances and manners, actively spread positive energy, and strive to cultivate outstanding students; that young teachers should develop noble passion and devotion for education practices, committing themselves to the common growth and making more contributions to HUTB’s new leap development. President Chen said that HUTB will do its best to create better development platforms and space as well as working and living conditions for young teachers and to make them feel as warm as they do at home.
