2020-09-01
On the afternoon of August 31, Tang Yayang, Secretary of HUTB Party Committee, presided over a symposium with the representatives of students who had returned to theuniversityfor the 2020 fall semester at the Mental Health Education Center. Through this symposium, HUTB aimed to deeply understand students’ physical and mental status, so that it can provide students with better quality services amid the regular epidemic prevention and control.

At the symposium, student representatives actively talked about what they had seen, heard, felt during the epidemic prevention and control period as well as their plans in the new semester. They expressed that although COVID-19 has caused inconvenience to schooling and daily life, the epidemic has slowed down people’slife pace and allowed them to have more time to be with their families and to learn to think and give thanks. The students have been touched and inspired by the whole nation’s vivid anti-epidemic practices. The class felt extremely happy and warm after returning to school and seeing HUTB’s considerate and orderly efforts in epidemic containment and reopening preparations. The student representatives also put forward suggestions for improvements in teaching arrangements, student management, logistics services, and other relevant work. To these comments and suggestions, the leaders of the Academic Affairs Division, the Student Affairs Division and other departments made on-site replies.
After hearing the students' heartfelt and unrestrained speeches, Secretary Tang Yayang made a brief comment and thanked and encouraged the students. He raised four suggestions for students’ study and life in the new semester: First, learn to grow and establish a correct outlook on the society and life duringsuch emergencies as COVID-19; second, timely adjust the mentality and go back to normal study with full confidence; third, broaden the horizons, actively follow national events, and hold on to personal ambitions to contribute to the country and society in the great times, to make contributions; fourth, learn to be optimistic by turning stress into motivation and sending positive energy.
