[The 70th Anniversary of Founding] Song Jingsheng, the Professor of Duke University, Was Invited to Give Lecture in Our University

In the forenoon of October 24, the Series Academic Activities of the 70thSchool Anniversary- Sub-forum of Institute of Big data and Internet Innovation was held in Room 206 of Science and Technology Building. Song Jingsheng, the famous scholar in the field of management and the Professor of Duke University, was invited to make the wonderful academic report entitled as "3D Printing and the Future of Spare Parts". The teachers and postgraduates such as the professor Zhou Xiancheng, the professor Hu Dongbin, the professor Liu Chang'e, the professor Zhou Xiongwei, etc. participated in the seminar.
Firstly, the professor Song Jingsheng considered the transport cost of parts and the influence of long-term inventory on company's interests based on the usage background of 3D printing and by taking the electric tower parts of certain company, so such company proposed the scheme of manufacturing its parts by utilizing the 3D printing. The professor Song team conducted the modeling and analysis of the cost in parts storage and 3D printing, and verified that the application of 3D printing in such field could reduce the inventory cost to great extent and improve the production efficiency and system flexibility. She also shared the latest research result of her team.
The participating teachers and students proactively took part in the interactive link and asked questions. The professor Song Jingsheng answered the problems proposed by teachers and students very patiently and carefully, and deeply discussed and exchanged the relevant model, supply chain and other problems.
This report had rich contents and active atmosphere, widened the students' view in the relevant field and enriched the students' experiences so that the teachers and students on site suffered a lot.
Now, the professor Song Jingsheng serves as the lifelong full professor of Operations Management of The Fuqua School of Business of Duke University. She was rated as the Overseas Outstanding Youth of National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2003, rated as the Chair Professor of Changjiang Scholars Program of Ministry of Education in 2009, selected in The Recruitment Program of Global Experts of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC in 2015, and was elected as the academician of Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (MSOM Fellow) and the academician of Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS Fellow) in 2017. Professor Song Jingsheng is the external review expert of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the member of National Major Project Team of Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Distinguished Visiting Professor of Fudan University, the Specially-appointed Professor of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance. She ever served as the Director of Overseas operation department of Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Specially-appointed Professor of Tongji University and Hohai University, and President of Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. Professor Song Jingsheng also ever served as President of Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and won the Distinguished Service Award of Manufacturing & Service Operations Management in 2014. She also won the Outstanding Contribution Award of CSAMSE in 2017. Professor Song Jingsheng successively served as the Chief Editor and Editorial Board Member of many world's top academic journals such as MS, OR, M&SOM, etc. Professor Song Jingsheng published over 40 papers on the international top academic journals such as MS, OR, POM and M&SOM.
