Another Year of Graduation Season, the Students of the Class of 2018 Bid Farewell To Hunan University of Commerce

On the morning of Jun. 22, the graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony for graduates of the class of 2018 were held ceremoniously in the gymnasium. The university leaders Chen Xiaohong, Xia Jichun, Peng Jinqing, Zeng Fuqiu, Li Dingjun and Nie Guoqing, Member of University Party Committee Yang Liangqi and First Class Hornorary Professor Liu Siwei attended the ceremony, responsible persons of secondary departments, teachers' representatives, counselors, graduates' parent representatives participated in the graduation ceremony to jointly witness and share the glory and joy of 3637 graduates and postgraduates.
The Vice-president Zeng Fuqiu presided over the ceremony. Before the ceremony, all the graduates shared memories of the four years of youth at the university in the loop playback of videos such as Changes in Hunan University of Commerce, Changes in You and Me, Changes in the New Era, Wonderful Hunan University of Commerce, Missing You, My Deskmate and Nanshan South.
In the solemn national anthem, the graduation ceremony officially began. Vice-president Peng Jinqing read out the Decision on Granting the Graduation of Liu Yingchun and Other Postgraduates of Hunan University of Commerce and Decision on Granting Liu Yingchun and Other Students of Hunan University Commerce Master's Degree. Vice-president Li Dingjun read out the Decision on Granting the Graduation of He Li and Other Students of Hunan University of Commerce and Decision on Granting He Li and Other Students of Hunan University Commerce Bachelor's Degree. Deputy Secretary Xia Jichun of University Party Committee read out the commendation bulletin for outstanding graduates at the provincial level. The university leaders attending the ceremony presented honorary credential to the representatives of outstanding graduates at the provincial level.
Graduates' representative Liu Longteng from School of Law and Public Management fondly recalled the unforgettable days in the alma mater and harvest gained in his growth in his speech, which was full of gratitude and attachment to the alma mater and teachers. He said that he would be together with the graduates of the class of 2018 to keep in mind the university motto "Sincerity & Credibility, Pragmatism & Innovation" and make efforts to contribute to the university development, social progress and national construction.
Teachers' representative Wen Guirong from School of Finance expressed congratulation to the graduates of the class of 2018 on behalf of all the teachers. She hoped that the graduates: first, earnestly practice what they advocate to spread the school spirit of virtue, erudition, practice and self-enhancement, to transmit the positive energy of making progress, stepping forward, sincerity and kindness, and to make progress and forge ahead with alma mater; second, insist on being a person who keeps original will in his mind, distinguishes right from wrong, never drifts along and has a clear heart; third, return to the alma mater and meet with friends after a decade - decade of grinding sword before sharp blade, plum blossom fragrant after cold winter.
President Chen Xiaohong(academician) delivered an enthusiastic speech. On behalf of all university leaders and all teachers, management staffs and service staffs who accompany and concern about the graduates of the class of 2018, she expressed sincere congratulations to the graduates. She reviewed the development and changes of the university in the past four years with students. She pointed out that, in the past four years, the university was approved as the Application-oriented Undergraduate University in "the 13th Five-year Plan" National Industry & Education Cooperation Project and National Level Public Innovative Space, and became the First Batch of Top 10 "Demonstration of Colleges and Universities for Deepening Reform of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education", selected as the second batch of "Innovative and Entrepreneurial Base of National Universities Practice Education", and awarded with "Top 50 Universities with Typical Innovative and Entrepreneurial Experience", etc. Hunan University of Commerce was working hard to make a voice for students on the national stage. With constant efforts, Hunan University of Commerce has become a project construction unit for awarding doctoral degrees, and has become a key university. These achievements have fully proved that the happiness relies on the struggle.
She put forward three hopes for the students. First, she hopes the students to inherit the university spirit and becoming permanent "university person"; always remember "Self-improvement, Self-discipline and Social Commitment"; remember "The Wise Man Listens to All Sides"; remember "Erudition, Interrogation, Careful Reflection and Discernment"; remember "Be Practical and Realistic, the Unity of Knowing and Doing"; firstly enrich their head and then your pockets, wash away impurities of thoughts, sharpen spearhead of thoughts, and make learning became a living habit to be a runner of thoughts and a leader of the era! Second, she hopes the students to constantly strive for their life and be a permanent "Endeavour". In this new era, the youth can best be carried and bloomed, the students must integrate their personal dream into the country, and make efforts to become the backbone of the country and nation. You bear important tasks and have bright prospects! Today, you left your papers at the university, and you will write better "papers" on the earth of the motherland in the future! Third, she hopes the students to pursue transcendence and be a "Transcender" of life. A man may not succeed, but must make progress. This progress is the transcendence of the self, the environment and the life. You must transcend parochialism and prejudice, maintain curiosity, imagination and critical thinking, move from "individual" to "collective", and make your pattern and breadth of mind as broad as the sea! You must transcend fear and cultivate the greatest and most unbending noble spirit! You must transcend secular to make the life clear and beautiful! She wished all the graduates of the class of 2018 eternal youth! All the way is brilliant and the life is happy and peaceful!
Accompanied by the cheerful melody, members of School Degree Evaluation Committee, university leaders and teachers' representatives allocated more than 3000 graduates participating the ceremony one by one to present degree certificates.
In the end of the ceremony, all graduates of the class of 2018 solemnly vowed to "Make Excellence, Diligence and Civilization a Habit and Bloom Youth in Passionate Struggle".
The graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony for graduates of the class of 2018 came to a successful ending in a chorus of teachers and students of My Old Classmate (the version of Hunan University of Commerce).
