Academician Chen Xiaohong Elected as Member of the 8th NSFC

Recently, National Natural Science Foundation of China (hereinafter referred to as “NSFC”) has released the notice of appointment of members for the 8th NSFC. Academician Chen Xiaohong, President of HNUC, was elected as member of the 8th NSFC.
As a public institution directly under the State Council in charge of management of national natural science funds, NSFC will, in accordance with the national guidelines, policies and plans on developing science and technology, make the best of national natural science funds to support basic research, adhere to free exploration, play the guiding role, find and train talents in science and technology, and promote the scientific and technological progress and the coordinated development between economy and society. The NSFC members are scientists, engineering technologist and management experts from institutions of higher learning, research institutes, government departments and enterprises according to the tenure system.
The members of the 8th NSFC were finally confirmed at the meeting of the Party Committee of NSFC on April 25, 2018. The 24 NSFC members consist of directors, vice directors, secretary general and members. Academician Chen Xiaohong’s becoming NSFC member is of great importance for HNUC to achieve a great breakthrough in the natural science expert field, enhance the overall scientific research strength, speed up the development and progress in natural science field, and realize “HNUC upgrading”, “doctorate program establishing” and “double tops” construction goals.
