Our University's Contestants Achieve Excellence in the Provincial University Students English Speech Competition

From October 22 to 23, the 22th Hunan University Students English Speech Competition and the 7th FLTRPC (Foreign Language Teaching And Research Press Cup)" English Speech Competition Hunan Competition Area Intermediary Contest was held in Hunan University of Arts and Science. 152 students who were selected by Central South University, Hunan University, Hunan Normal University, Xiangtan University, Hunan University of Commerce and other 51 provincial colleges and universities attended it.

Tan Yuexi (Accounting Class 1409), Xiao Nan ( Finance Class 1405, CFA) and Zhang Ling hui (Business English Class 1402) participated in the first group competition on behalf of HNUC, meanwhile, Feng Jie (Marketing Class 1421), Yang Nan (Financial Class 1422), Wen Ruixue (Business English Class 1422) who came from Beijin College participated in the second group competition on behalf of Hunan University of Commerce Beijin College. After the fierce competition, the contestants achieved excellent results, such as, Tan Yuexi won the first prize in the non-professional group of first group of competition, Xiao Nan won the individual second prize, and HNUC won the team second prize; Yang Nan won the individual second prize in the non-professional group of second group competition, Wen Ruixue won the individual third prize in the non-professional group, and Beijin College won the team third prize.

The main purpose of Hunan University Students English Speech Competition focused on cultivating students' interest in English, expanding their English listening and speaking ability, as well as completely reflecting their elegant demeanour. The competition was divided into first group and second group, including given topic speech and impromptu speech, namely, the impromptu speech's topic shall be drawn before the contestants stepped on the platform. The expert judges would make comprehensive evaluation and give a mark for the contestants' language capacity and application, speech contents and skills, time mastering, overall image, theatrical style and others.
