On October 11, at the conference room 702 of Office Building 2 of the university, the schoolfellow Fan Jianwen "Fudi Scholarship" (Phase II) donation ceremony was held. President Chen Xiaohong; Xia Jichun, deputy secretary of Party Committee and standing vice-president of alumni association; responsible persons of Alumni Office, Students' Affairs Office, Graduate School, Education Foundation, Committee for Care Next Generation as well as poverty students' representatives attended it. which was presided over by the deputy secretary Xia Jichun.
In the speech, the schoolfellow Fan Jianwen affectionately recalled his days studying in the alma mater. In those years, he had no enough to eat and wear, due to the poor family, but it was the care and help from alma mater that made him overcome the difficulties and finish his study smoothly. It was the education and training of alma mater that made him get exercise in all aspects, become a useful person and get a job smoothly. He also obtained the care and help from teachers and classmates of alma mater during the hard entrepreneurial process, and has been holding the deep feeling and sincere gratitude to the alma mater. Now, he has made small achievements, and shall repay the alma mater. He made a donation to help the freshmen girls and boys from the poor family finish their study and become a useful person early. He encouraged the students to read books with soul, engage in the cause with soul, and be a person with a noble and pure soul. He hopes to help more poor students build confidence, overcome difficulties, finish their study smoothly, and become a useful person through his donation, meanwhile, bring more people for inheriting the care and make contributions to the alma mater and society.
Hu Jie, the winning student representative of "Fudi Scholarship" (Phase I) and from law class 1303, excitedly expressed in the speech that the senior Fan Jianwen's "Fudi Scholarship" not only solved her life difficulty, but also gave her the confidence and motivation of overcoming difficulty and studying diligently. She will pay back the senior's selfless care and help with the excellent academic performance. She said: "I will work hard and help more people like the senior after graduation".
President Chen Xiaohong expressed her sincere thanks to schoolfellow Fan Jianwen's generous donation on behalf of all teachers and students. She spoke highly of schoolfellow Fan Jianwen's entrepreneurial spirit of hard work, perseverance and struggle, chivalrous action, thanksgiving to alma mater, repaying back to the society and dedication of love, and encouraged all students to be a person with compassion, spirit of devotion, social responsibility and spirit of assuming responsibility like the senior Fan Jianwen, vigorously promoted the inspiring deeds of the excellent schoolfellows in the whole school, and motivated all students to study hard and made efforts to become a useful person. She said that only a capable person can have a successful career, but only talent with dedication spirit, sense of responsibility and compassion can promote the social progress.
The schoolfellow Fan Jianwen graduated from our university’s Price Specialty in 1992. Although he was born in a poor family, he studied hard in the school and had an excellent academic performance. After graduation, He chose the self-employment, and obtained the successful career after many years of hard work. Now, he serves as the chairman of Guangdong Fudi Logistics Co., Ltd. and holds the post of executive member of Alumni Association and secretary-general of Guangzhou Alumni Association.
The schoolfellow Fan Jianwen has been holding the deep affection for the alma mater, caring for the alma mater's construction and development, and the alma mater's students. In the 60th anniversary of school founding in November 2009, he ever donated RMB 200,000 and took the lead in establishing the alumni scholarship "Fudi Scholarship". Up to 2014, the scholarship has helped more than 120 outstanding poor students. This year, he donated another RMB 500,000 and continued to establish the second phase "Fudi Scholarship" for helping more outstanding poor students of the alma mater finish their study smoothly.
