2016 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony Was Held

“Being practical and innovative promises a prosperous career while carrying on affection for HNUC by practicing the truth; being honest and trustworthy leads to a brilliant life while keeping Chinese dream in heart by seeking for truth and goodness”. On the morning of June 23rd, the 2016 Graduation Ceremony and Degree-awarding Ceremony was held in the school’s  gym  to celebrate the successful completion of academic study for 3467 students, who would soon on a new journey of life. School leaders Tang Yayang, Chen Xiaohong, Xia Jichun, Peng Jinqing, Chen Liying, Wang Minggao, Zeng FuQiu, Li Dingjun, Liu Guoquan, Yang Hong, Niu Guoqing and first-class honorary professor Liu Siwei attended the ceremony. All members of  Academic Degree Dvaluation Committee of the school, heads of the Party administration office of secondary units,, deputy Party  secretary of secondary schools,  director of Students Affairs Office, counselors of graduating classes, teachers, and representatives of alumni, parents and graduates witnessed the solemn and joyful moment. The ceremony was hosted by vice president Zeng  Fuqiu.

The ceremony started in the solemn national anthem. Vice president Liu Guoquan announced “The Decision to Allow Students including Wu Huijun etc. to Graduate from HNUC”, and “The Decision to Authorize Students including Wu Huijun etc. with Bachelor's Degree from HNUC”. Deputy Party secretary Xia Jichun read out the announcement to praise numerous provincial excellent graduates and outstanding graduates in self-employment. Representatives of students who had won the honorary title of provincial excellent graduates received honorary certificates on the stage.

Subsequently, 2016 graduate representatives walked to the platform in bachelor uniforms where leaders of the school corrected their tassels of bachelor's hat, and conferred the graduation certificate, academic degree certificate.

Graduate representative Xiao Hongwei  from Economy Class 1201  of School of Economy and Trade loudly confessed “HNUC, we have good expectation of you” to his alma mater which  accompanied him for four years. He expressed his gratitude to the school, teachers and students and his reluctance to leave; he also recalled his four years of struggle, honor, and harvest, described the change and new atmosphere, and said the title of being a member of HNUC would accompany him everyday and everywhere, he wouldn’t forget No.569, Yuelu Avenue---the place where he once studied. Sadness was refrained from today’s graduation but excellence would be witnessed in future reunion.

Chen Lifang, the representative of employers, the president of China CYTS Tours Holding Co.Ltd. in Hunan Province, the alumni of Tourism Management Major in 2000, showed her wishes for graduates of Hunan University of Commerce. Also, she shared her 16 years of entrepreneurial experiences and insights into life after she graduated. She believed, be positive and passionate and business would develop; maintain an effective study habit and life would be different; keep perseverance for the business and attentively finish repetitive things and one would be the winner in life.

The representative of teachers, the deputy dean of School of Foreign Languages, Wen Lanfang on behalf of all the teachers and students showed congratulations for the graduates in 2016 who successfully completed their studies. For graduates who were going to leave the school and start a new journey, she expressed endless care for them and hoped everybody find the life worth living, live rich and lofty spiritual life with kindness and purity.

President Chen Xiaohong, on behalf of school and all the teachers, expressed her heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for graduates and shared the success and joy of graduation with them.

“After graduation, all of you will start your new journey. As the president of Hunan University of Commerce, I love all of you and I will miss you, I believe you are the best graduates of Hunan University of Commerce”. “Footprints of yours left on the campus. In a year or two, you will see beautiful scenery in Laohuling Park, asphalt campus road, new Cuiya Dormitory, reconstructive Cuiya and Xiande Apartment, unique Xiande Academy, a bigger maker center, economic management teaching and training complex, and the completion of a Smart Campus and so on. The most important thing is a newly-promoted Hunan University of Finance will be waiting for your coming back! ”with these sincere words, President Chen won cheers and applause of all the graduates.

President Chen sent an affectionate message to graduates who were about to step on their next journey. First of all, everyone should have dedication and courage and be a good, kind-hearted, benevolent, noble-minded person. Secondly, she hoped students to be diligent in thinking, to consider the hard work and prominence as a habit, to maintain a positive state of mind no matter what setbacks they might encounter, to be eager to learn, to improve themselves, to continue to keep up with the changes of the times. Thirdly, she hoped the students should keep fit both physically and mentally and believe that the sun was still bright tomorrow, maintain a passion so that they wouldn’t be defeated by difficulties and setbacks.

Finally, President Chen encouraged graduates with the school motto and hoped for emerging of outstanding entrepreneurs, professional managers from the graduates who would have influence on Hunan Province or China or even the world. She hoped the graduates could fly higher, fly farther. Her sincere kind words aroused the emotional resonance of the graduates and won bursts of applause and cheers from the audience.

During the ceremony, the undergraduate representatives took the banner embroidered with the spirit of HNUC from the hands of the graduates. All the graduates vowed to his alma mater, “we shall bear in mind the school motto, be grateful, patriotic and law-abiding and honest, be responsible and courageous, be pragmatic and serve the motherland and the people through innovative efforts and strive to realize the great Chinese dream!"

    The graduation ceremony ended successfully in singing HNUC-version The South of South Mountain by the teachers and students together.
